Louisville Bats 7, Pawtucket Red Sox 4

Cody “Center for Kids Who Can’t” Reed “Good” got the start for Louisville and, while he kept runs off the board, he was pretty wild. He lasted only 4 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Barrett “A little place called” Astin came on in relief and was better, throwing 2 shutout innings and giving up only 1 walk and 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. Jesse Winker “Hardly even knew her” had a big night at the plate, going 4 for 5 with a double, a 2-run dinger, and 4 runs scored. Zach “Soft J” Vincej was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI, Peter “Maggie” O’Brien was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, and Brandon Dixon and Sebastian “Lizard People” Elizalde were each 1 for 3 with 2 RBI.

Daytona Tortugas 7, Charlotte Stone Crabs 2

Daytona, doing their best Louisville impression, also collected 7 runs and 12 hits in a 7-2 victory last night. Jesus “Saves Starts” Reyes rose to the occasion and pitched 7 strong innings, giving up only 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Robert “Chicken broth” Stock and Jacob “Ehret Ehret” Ehret each struck out 1 in scoreless innings out of the bullpen. The top of the order was on fire for Daytona, as the first four batters each had multi-hit games. Alfredo “Sauce-Rod” Rodriguez was 2 for 5 and scored twice, Shed “Don” Long was 3 for 5 with a solo dinger and 2 runs scored, Nick “Rocky Top” Senzel was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, and Gavin “As I walk through” LaValley was 4 for 5 with a double and a 2-run dinger.
