Bronson Arroyo vs. Kyle Freeland
The Reds will turn again to 40-year old Bronson Arroyo for a start, this time fresh off of his dingerrific outing against the Chicago Cubs in which the wind was blowing straight out of Wrigley Field. His 6.31 ERA this season is backed by a 6.19 FIP that suggests there hasn’t been a ton of improbable thumping against him this year, and today he’ll try to guile and finagle his way through a terribly imposing Colorado Rockies lineup.
24 year old Kyle Freeland will oppose him on the mound, the Denver native and former 1st round draft pick having had almost the exact opposite season to Arroyo so far. Already having logged 1.8 bWAR, that’s a full 2 and a half wins improvement on Arroyo, as his 3.13 ERA and only 2 dingers allowed in 46 IP show the kind of promise the rookie has in that talented left arm.
The losing streak is done. Here’s to beginning a win streak.
