Louisville Bats 4, Charlotte Knights 7
A 5-run 3rd inning was enough to bring down the Bats on Thursday. Rob Wooten “Clan” was not good, lasting only 2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Wendolyn “Wendy Bats” Bautista then came in and gave up 3 runs in 4 innings. Hernan “The Barbarian” Iribarren was 2 for 5 with a double, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored. Rob “Cowboy” Brantley was 3 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI, Brandon Dixon “Dixoff” was 2 for 4 with a double and a solo dinger, and Zach “Cincy” Vincej was 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run. In things that are bad, Phil “Phlervin” Ervin was 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts and is now 2 for 34 since his cup of coffee in the majors. Yikes. Nick “Apparently still in the system” Christiani, Evan Mitchell “Is Batman”, and Kevin “Love” Shackelford all pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
Up Next: Amir Garrett will attempt to limit his innings or something tonight against Charlotte at 7:05 PM ET.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 5, Birmingham Barons 4
Pensacola scored a late run to defeat Birmingham 5-4 on Thursday. Keury “We all live in a” Mella “Submarine” got the start and pitched okay. He went 5.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Tyler “Good Day” Goeddel was solid at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI, Eric “Deuce Bigelow Male” Jagielo was also 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run, Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino was 1 for 4 with a 2-run dinger, and Alex “The Great” Blandino was 1 for 4 with a double. Jimmy “Drinks to” Herget struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings and got the win.
Up Next: Deck McGuire gets the start tonight at 6:35 PM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 5, Dunedin Blue Jays 3
Despite getting 14 hits as a team, Daytona needed a late rally to come back and beat Dunedin on Thursday. Ty “Oozin” Boyles started and went 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. The offense performed very well, as everyone in the lineup got a hit. Alfredo “Sauce” Rodriguez was 2 for 5 and scored a run, Shed “Me” Long “Time” was also 2 for 5 and had 1 RBI, Gavin “As I walk through” LaValley was 2 for 5 with a double, Nick “Senzinnati” Senzel was 1 for 4 with a 2-RBI double, and Garrett “What does a” Boulware was 2 for 4 and scored a run. Tanner “Make it” Rainey did what he normally does and struck out 2 in a scoreless inning.
Up Next: Wendolyn Bautista is listed as the probable starter, but considering he pitched last night in Louisville I’d imagine it’s somebody different. The Tortugas play tonight at 6:30 PM ET.
Dayton Dragons 5, Quad Cities River Bandits 3
Dayton just continued to do their thing on Thursday, defeating Quad Cities 5-3. Max Dotell “6” started and went 3 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Ryan “Purple Haze” Hendrix came in and pitched the next 3 and was lights out, giving up no runs on 1 hit with 7 strikeouts and no walks. TJ “Land of the” Friedl was 2 for 2 with a triple, a walk, and 1 RBI, Tyler “Bat Flip” Stephenson was 1 for 2 with a walk and 1 RBI, Michael “Head Rub” Beltre was 2 for 3 with a double and scored a run, and Taylor “Take the” Trammell was 1 for 4 with a triple and a run scored.
