Farmers Only: Luis Castillo Gives Us Hope

Also, Dayton dingered and dangered.

MLB: Spring Training-San Francisco Giants at Cincinnati Reds Sam Greene-USA TODAY Sports

Louisville Bats 2, Norfolk Tides 7

Jackson “Badson” Stephens got freaking rocked. He gave up 6 earned runs over 0.2 innings. None of it was good. Kyle “McSexy” McMyne took over and pitched 3.1 scoreless innings. He struck out two, gave up a hit, and walked 1. Lucas “Get Lit” Luetge pitched 3 innings and gave up only 1 earned run. He also struck out 5. Alejandro “Chimichanga” Chacin pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout, and Louis “Ville” Coleman pitched another scoreless with 2 strikeouts. Rob “Billy Bob” Brantly was 2 for 4 with a double, Hernan “The Barbarian” Iribarren was 2 or 4 with a walk, Tony “Bendy Rendy” Renda was 2 for 4 with a dinger and 2 RBI, and Sebastian “Sea Bass” Elizalde was 2 for 4.

Because the Reds don’t know what’s happening with their pitching, neither do the Bats. TBD will be on the mound at 7:05 PM EST.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2, Birmingham Barons 1

Luis “Louhees” Castillo was fracking fantastic. He pitched 7 innings and gave up a lonely earned run. 5 hits were given up with no walks and 10 strikeouts. Geoff “Get Off” Broussard pitched 2 scoreless with 3 strikeouts. Tyler “Good Day” Goeddel was 2 for 4 with a solo dinger, and Alex “The Great” Blandino hit another solo homer and walked.

Keury Mella starts tonight at 6:35 PM CT.

Daytona Tortugas 2, Florida Fire Frogs 14

Jesus “Didn’t Save” Reyes had himself a rough time. He gave up 8 runs (6 earned) over 4 innings. He did strikeout 5, but also walked 3 and allowed 8 hits. Braulio “Brolio” Ortiz pitched 1.2 with 2 strikeouts, and I’ve never heard of this player before. Based on the name, I don’t believe he actually exists. Shed “Is Awesome” Long was 3 for 4 with a double, RBI, and a walk, and Nick Senzel was 1 for 4 with a walk.

Ty Boyles starts tonight at 6:30 PM ET.

Dayton Dragons 5, Cedar Rapids Kernels 6 (F/10)

Wennington “Lil Cueto” Romero was decent but inefficient. He gave up 3 runs (2 earned) over 4.2 innings. He allowed 7 hits, a walk, and struck out 2. The bullpen wasn’t bad but not good enough for me to type about. Taylor “Kennesaw” Trammell hit a 2 run wanger, James “Still Have No Nicknames” Vasquez was 3 for 5 with a double, and a 2 run dinger, and John “Samson” Sansone hit a solo homer with a walk.

Scott Ross toes the rubber at 7:00 PM ET.
