Amir Garrett vs. Mike Leake

The Reds will look to build off of their winning homestand as they embark on their first road trip of the season to St. Louis. Hey, 2-1 is a winning homestand.

Amir Garrett will be the second Reds pitcher in as many days to make his big league debut, but will be in a much different situation than yesterday’s starter Rookie Davis. Amir gets to debut on the road, in arguably one of the most hostile environments for the Reds. He may have been the most impressive Reds starter in spring training, so hopefully he can take the confidence of that into the regular season.

It’ll be interesting to see how this start will affect the Reds rotation, because you could make the argument that 3 of the 5 Reds starters are pitching to stay in the rotation right now. After Davis’s shaky debut, the pressure could already be on Garrett to deliver early to avoid the trip back down I-71.

He’ll face old friend Mike Leake, now in his second season of pitching for the enemy. Boo.

Go Reds! They’re my favorite team!
