Louisville 2, Columbus 3 F/13
Louisville played until the 13th inning and finally fell to Columbus via the long ball. Sweaty Sal Romano got off to a good start by pitching 6 innings and only giving up 2 earned runs. He gave up 7 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 3. Hang with me as I tell you about the relievers. Louis Coleman pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Evan Mitchell Is Batman pitched 2 scoreless with 2 strikeouts. Kyle “Make You” McMyne pitched 1 scoreless with a strikeout. Lucas “Get Lit” Luetge pitched 2 scoreless with 0 strikeouts. Last but not least, Alejandro Chacin gave up the solo dinger, but he also struck out the side. Sebastian “Lizard People” Elizalde was 2 for 4 with a solo homer and a walk.
Rob Wooten will start tonight at 7:05 PM EST.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 4, Tennessee Smokies 1
Tyler “Poppin” Mahle started on Opening Night for the Wahoos as was pretty dang good. He pitched 5.2 innings while only giving up 1 earned run, 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 6. Ismael “Beef” Guillon picked up the slack in relief and struck out 4 in 1.1 innings, and Ariel “Little Mermaid” Hernandez pitched a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. Eric “Jiggly” Jagielo was 2 for 3 with a solo dinger and a walk, and Taylor Sparks also helped spark the offense by hitting a solo homer, taking a walk, and scoring two runs.
Luis Castillo will take the mound tonight at 6:35 PM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 3, Florida Fire Frogs 1
Daytona took on the entire state of Florida on their Opening Night and left the stadium victorious. Jonathon “Crawfish” Crawford, who apparently does exist, took the first start of the season and was pretty decent considering he hasn’t pitched in an actual game in a decade. Crawford pitched 4.2 innings and gave up an earned run on 3 hits, 3 walks, but also struck out 6. Sandy “Cheeks” Lugo pitched 2.1 scoreless with 3 strikeouts to pick up the win, and Geoff “Jeff” Broussard picked up the save with 2 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts. Nick Senzel started the season the way we’d expect by hitting 2 for 4 and scoring a run. Gavin “Deep In” LaValley did exactly the same. Narcios Crook and Reydel Medina were both 2 for 4 with a double, and Medina also had 2 RBI.
The Tortugas will play tonight at 7:05 PM EST with TBD making his season debut.
Dayton 1, Lake County 3 (Suspended)
They played the game until the 4th inning when rain ruined things. The game will be scheduled to pick back up tonight. Taylor “TT” Trammell hit a dinger in his first at bat of the season, which is pretty cool because he’s awesome. Antonio “The Tiger” Santillan took the start and could have been better. He did give up 3 runs but only one was earned, but in those 3.2 innings he allowed 3 hits, walked 4, and only struck out one.
Scott Moss will start the other game tomorrow which starts at 7:00 PM EST.
