Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies
4:10 PM ET
Scott Feldman vs. Jeremy Hellickson
It’s Opening Day in Cincinnati, which is never a bad thing. Even when the weather looks like it’s going to stink this afternoon, and there’s a bunch of unfamiliar names in the lineup (Scott Feldman?), Opening Day here is still an event. No matter who’s on the 25-man roster, it’s the one day a year where we know exactly what to expect in Cincinnati. Today is our World Series.
In our World Series, we have Scott Feldman starting, who probably wouldn’t have been anyone’s first choice to start this game. He’ll be making his Reds debut, but actually has experience starting on Opening Day, having done so for both the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros. That experience should hopefully serve him well, as he won’t be subject to the jitters that one of the younger Reds starters would be.
We also have a lineup for today’s game, and there’s no surprises on the Reds side. Today will be our first look at the new Hamilton-Peraza-Votto top of the order, and Tucker Barnhart gets the start behind the plate with Devin Mesoraco on the shelf for the next couple of weeks.
Who knows if we’ll have any baseball to watch today, but it doesn’t matter. It’s Opening Day. Reds baseball is back. Let’s enjoy it.
