Farmers Only: Shed Long and T.J. Friedl continue to mash

Shed Long and T.J. Friedl can’t stop hitting as they post another huge night for Daytona and Billings.

Louisville 5, Columbus 6

The Bats tried to stage a late comeback, but it wasn’t enough as they lost to Columbus 6-5. Robert Stephenson got the start last night and was pretty bad, going 6 innings and giving up 6 earned runs on 10 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3. Hernan Irbarren made his first start at first-base tonight and continued hitting the ball well, going 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. “Uncle” Jesse Winker also continued his solid hitting by going 2 for 4 with a run scored and Seth-Mejias Brean three bean cassaroled his way into a 2 for 4, 1 double, 1 run scored night as well. Matt “Mr.” Magill and Dayan Diaz both pitched scoreless innings out of the ‘pen.

Amir Garrett starts tonight at 7:05 PM ET.

Pensacola 1, Biloxi 3

The offense couldn’t get much going for the Blue Wahoos, as they fell 3-1 to Biloxi on Monday. Sal Romano got the start and gave up 3 earned runs on 9 hits while walking none and striking out 4. Alex “The Great” Blandino continues to swing a hot bat, going 3 for 4 on the evening. Sebastian “Lizard People” Elizalde was 1 for 4 and scored the only run for the Wahoos. Kyle “Won’t You Be” McMyne and Nick Routt “44” both struck out 1 in a scoreless inning of relief.

Mystery Pitcher starts tonight against Biloxi at 6:40 PM CT.

Daytona 9, Dunedin 7

Daytona was able to hold on in a shootout last night, defeating Dunedin 9-7. Tejay Antone got the start and was let down by his defense a little, as he gave up 7 runs, only 2 earned, on 7 hits while walking none and striking out 4 in 5 innings of work. Shed Long continues to mash the ball, as he went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. He is now hitting .419 since getting the call to High-A this season. Blake Trahan was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, Gavin “As I walk through” LaValley was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and Garrett “Tupper” Boulware was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Yorman “our man” Rodriguez made a rehab appearance and went 1 for 3. Jimmy Herget struck out 4 in 11 innings of work.

Jonathan Crawford starts tonight at 7:05 PM ET.

Dayton 1, Lake County 5

Dayton did as Dayton does and fell 5-1 to Lake County last night. Ty “poppin’” Boyles started and gave up 5 earned runs on 7 hits with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts over 5 innings. James “Taylor” Vasquez had a solid night at the plate, going 3 for 4 on the evening. Daniel Sweet was 1 for 4 with a double and scored a run and Tyler “Bat flippin’” Stephenson was 1 for 3 on the night. Tanner “Singin’ in the” Rainey and Lucas Benenati each gave up a hit and struck out 1 in their scoreless innings in relief.

Jesus Reyes starts tonight at 7:00 PM ET.

Billings 7, Idaho Falls 4

The Mustangs were able to hold off a late comeback as they defeated Idaho Falls 7-4 on Monday. Andrew “Never trust a guy with 2 first names” Jordan started and pitched very well, going 6 innings and giving up no runs on 1 hit while walking 1 and striking out 5. T.J. Friedl ho-hummed his way into another 3-4, 2 double night while adding a walk and 3 RBI to the line. Jose “Ask” Siri was 2 for 5 with a solo dinger and 2 runs scored, Colby Wright was 2 for 3 with a walk, and Michael Beltre was 1 for 3 with a walk, a double, and a run scored. The bullpen wasn’t very good so we won’t talk about them.

AZL Reds 2, AZL Indians 1

The Baby Reds used strong pitching to shut down the Baby Indians last night. Nick “mmmmbop” Hanson started and pitched 2 innings, giving up an earned run on 3 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3. Emmanuel Cruz went 2 for 3 with a dinger and 2 RBI to account for the offense for the Baby Reds. Bruce “Willis” Yari was 1 for 3 with a triple and Ernesto “Goes to School” Liberatore was 1 for 3 with a double.

The Baby Reds will play the Baby Brewers tonight at 7:00 PM MT.
