Farmers Only: Daytona scores all the runs

Jonathan Crawford returns from rehab and Shed Long continues to mash in another big night for Daytona.

Louisville 5, Toledo 9

The Bats gave up a bunch of runs late as they lost 9-5 to Toledo on Wednesday. Robert “Bob Steve” Stevenson got the start and was solid, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Tonight was also the debut of the combination of #Herraza in the middle infield. The newly acquired Dilson Herrera was solid in his 2nd game in Louisville, going 3 for 5 with a triple, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Beau Amaral was 1 for 4 with a walk and a RBI double, Kyle “NASCAR” Waldrop was 2 for 5, and Chris Berset “Hound” was 2 for 4 on the night. Hernan “The Barbarian” Irbarren, who is a position player, was the only Bat to not give up a run in .2 innings of work.

Pensacola 2, Mississippi 3

The Blue Wahoos lost a close one to Mississippi, falling 3-2 on Wednesday. Sal “Everybody loves” Romano got the start and was very good once again, going 6 innings and giving up 1 run on 6 hits while walking none and striking out 6. The offense was unable to get much going, as they were held to only 2 hits. Eric “Deuce Bigelow Male” Jagielo was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks and Zach “Soft J” Vincej was 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. Alex “The Great” Blandino reached base twice via the walk and Phil Ervin had a RBI on a sac fly in the 9th. Jimmy “Get a Brain” Moran struck out 2 and gave up 1 run in his inning of relief.

Daytona 12, Brevard County 0

Jonathan Crawford had his first non-rehab start yesterday afternoon and pitched very well. He went 5 innings and gave up no runs on 2 hits with only 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Shed Long continued hitting well in Daytona, going 3 for 4 with a 2-run dinger and 2 runs scored. Reydel Medina also continued mashing the ball, going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a triple, 3 runs scored, and 4 RBI. Angelo “Bleeding” Gumbs and Gavin “As I walk through” LaValley were each 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Alex “Danger” Powers finished off the game by striking out 2 batters in 2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Daytona 5, Brevard County 1

“Rocket” Ismael Guillon got the start in game 2 of the double header and was dang fantastic. After giving up a solo dinger in the first, he settled down to finish with a total line of 5 innings pitched, 1 hit, 1 run, no walks, and 10 strikeouts. Shed Long had another big game, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Reydel Medina struggled, going only 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored and saw his average drop to .444 in Daytona. Gavin LaValley was 1 for 3 with a solo dinger and Ty “12 stories high, made of radiation” Washington was 1 for 3 with 1 RBI. Juan Martinez had a strikeout in his scoreless inning of relief.

TBD will also take the mound for Daytona tonight at 6:35 PM ET.

Dayton 1, West Michigan 4

The double header did not go as well for Dayton as it did for Daytona as they lost game 1, 4-1. Ty “Oozin’” Boyles got the start and was solid until the 6th inning, where he gave up 3 runs. His final line was 5.2 innings pitched, 4 hits, 4 runs (3 ER), 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the offense. They only mustered 3 hits in the game. Shane Mardirosian was 1 for 2 with a run scored, Mitch Piatnik! “At The Disco” was also 1 for 2, and Josciel Veras was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Lucas Benenati pitched 0.2 innings in relief.

Dayton 2, West Michigan 3

In fact, the double header went the exact opposite for Daytona, as they gave up a late 2-run lead to get swept on the day. Jesus “Take the Wheel” Reyes was solid in his start, going 5 innings and giving up no runs on 2 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Nick Senzel was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI, Daniel Sweet was 1 for 3 with a run scored, and Jose Duarte was also 1 for 3. Those were the only hits for the Dragons in the 2nd game. Sarkis Ohanian gave up 3 runs in 1.2 IP to blow the save and earn the loss, though 2 of the 3 runs were unearned.

Tanner Rainey starts tonight at 7:00 PM ET.

Billings was off last night and will play tonight at 7:05 PM MT with Scott Moss getting the start.

AZL Reds 6, AZL Padres 0

Keenan “and Kel” Kish started this game and threw 1 shutout inning, striking out 1 batter. Luis Alices pitched 4 innings and got the win, giving up no runs on 2 hits with a walk and 4 strikeouts. J.D. “Drew Tim” Salmon-Williams was 1 for 3 with a walk and 1 RBI, Michael Beltre was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, and Urwin Juaquin “Phoenix” was 1 for 4 with a double and scored a run.

The Baby Reds play the Baby Brewers tonight at 7:00 PM MT.
