Louisville 7, Columbus 5

Homer Bailey made another rehab start in this one and was solid until the 6th inning. Up until that 6th inning he had only given up 2 runs on 3 hits. He finished with an overall line of 5.1 IP, 6 hits, 5 earned runs, 1 walk and 1 strikeout. He was pulled in the middle of an at-bat in the 6th when he reached his pitch count for the day. Hernan Iribarren continued his solid season at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a 2-run dinger and 3 RBI. Jermaine Curtis “Partch” was 2 for 5 and also had a home run. Steve’s bat was too Selsky last night, as he was also 2 for 5 with a solo home run, and Seth Mejias-Brean “Burrito” was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Chad Rogers struck out 3 and allowed no base-runners in 2.2 innings from the bullpen.

Tim Adleman starts tonight at 7:05 PM ET.

Pensacola 6, Biloxi 4

Pensacola took an early lead and was able to fight off a late come-back to defeat Biloxi 6-4 last night. Tyler “Poppin’” Mahle got the start and was effective, going 6 innings and giving up 3 unearned runs on 5 hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Beau Amaral “Ackbar” had a great night at the plate in his return to AA, going 3 for 5 with a dinger. Chad “Let’s Build A” Wallach was 1 for 2 with 2 walks and a 2-run dinger, Eric Jagielo was 1 for 4 with a 2-run double, and Zach Vincej was 2 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. Barrett Astin “Mmmm California, beautiful” and Carlos “The Other Cargo” Gonzalez each had scoreless innings in relief.

Rookie Davis faces off against Taylor Jungmann at 6:30 PM CT tonight.

Daytona 1, Jupiter 5

Daytona’s offense was unable to get much going as they lost to Jupiter, 5-1. Seth Varner got rocked early and often in this one, going 4 innings and allowing 5 earned runs on 11 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. All 5 runs came in the first inning. The offense only mustered 4 hits, with Aristides “Heiress Titties” Aquino going 1 for 3 with a triple and 1 RBI. He was lifted for a PH after his 3rd AB, which I thought was odd and started searching for any injury note in the box score. Nope, no injury, just this:

Ejections: Jupiter Hammerheads Manager Randy Ready ejected by 1B umpire Dave Attridge (9th); Jupiter Hammerheads Pitching Coach Jeremy Powell ejected by HP umpire Jordan Johnson (9th); Jupiter Hammerheads pitcher Andy Beltre ejected by HP umpire Jordan Johnson (9th); Jupiter Hammerheads center fielder Jeremias Pineda ejected by HP umpire Jordan Johnson (9th); Daytona Tortugas Manager Eli Marrero ejected by HP umpire Jordan Johnson (9th); Daytona Tortugas right fielder Aristides Aquino ejected by HP umpire Jordan Johnson (9th); Daytona Tortugas right fielder Jonathan Reynoso ejected by HP umpire Jordan Johnson (9th); Daytona Tortugas catcher Garrett Boulware ejected by HP umpire Jordan Johnson (9th)

That’s eight ejections between the two teams for those of you counting at home.

TBD, who managed not to get ejected, gets the start tonight at 6:30 PM ET.

Dayton 4, Quad Cities 6

Jacob Constante “nople” got the start for Dayton last night and has probably had better days, but judging by his 4.99 season ERA he probably hasn’t had too many. He went 4.2 innings last night and gave up 5 earned runs on 9 hits with no walks and only 1 strikeout. Chris “Annie are you” Okey was 1 for 4 with a solo dinger, Nick Senzel was 0 for 2 but walked once and had 2 RBI, Reydel “Iglesias” Medina was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, and Tyler Stephenson was also 1 for 4. Jesus Reyes and Ryan Hendrix each struck out 3 batters in their appearances from the ‘pen.

Ty Boyles starts tonight for Dayton at 8:00 PM ET.

Billings was off last night and has a double header today.

AZL Reds 2, AZL Mariners 4

Nick “mmmmbop” Hanson got the start for the Baby Reds and was solid in his short outing, giving up only 2 hits and no runs with no walks and 2 strikeouts in 3 innings of work. Unfortunately, the offense couldn’t get much going last night. Nadir Ljafti was 1 for 4 with a run scored, Carlos Rivero was 1 for 3 with 1 RBI, and J.D. “Drew Tim” Salmon-Williams was 1 for 4. The Baby Reds didn’t have a single extra base-hit on the night. Carlos Machorro struck out 2 in 2.1 scoreless innings out of the ‘pen.

The AZL Reds face off against the AZL White Sox tonight at 7:00 PM MT.
