If yesterday was the appetizer, today is the main event. It's Cody Reed day!
Cody Reed makes his big league debut today, and might be the most heralded Reds rookie to make his debut since Homer Bailey did almost a decade ago. Reed is 6-3 in 11 starts in Louisville this year, with a 3.20 ERA. His 63 strikeouts so far this year are good for 10th in the International League, and he's the highest ranked prospect from the Johnny Cueto trade to make a start for the Reds. Actually, it's worth mentioning that he'll now join John Lamb and Brandon Finnegan in the rotation.
He'll face Dallas Keuchel, who won the Cy Young last year. He hasn't followed that with a very impressive year, though, leading the league in losses with 9 and sporting a 5.54 ERA so far this year.
Go Reds!
