Louisville 3, Syracuse 2

Louisville took advantage of a 3-run third inning to defeat Syracuse 3-2. It was a pitcher by committee evening for the Bats, as Dayan “This is serious” Diaz got the start and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits, walking 2 and striking out 1. Matt “No fun here, mister” Magill struck out 2 and got the win in his 2 scoreless innings. Chad “We’re Not Jolly” Rogers struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings. Wandy “No Nickname” Peralta also pitched 2 scoreless innings. Jumbo Diaz played the right way and got the save with 1 strikeout in his scoreless inning.

At the plate, Jesse “I didn’t come here for nicknames” Winker was 2 for 3 with a double and Brandon “I don’t want to laugh” Allen was 1 for 4 with a 3-run home run. Hernan “Nickname” Irbarren and Scott “Sir, please sit down” Schebler both added 2 hits for the Bats.

Pensacola 10, Jackson 5, 14 Innings

Pensacola used a 5-run 14th to go along with their 3-run 7th to come back and beat Jackson on Thursday night. Nick “Nicknames are dumb” Travieso wasn’t his best, lasting only 3 innings, giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits while walking 3 and striking out only 1. Tony “Yawn” Renda was 3 for 7 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI, Sebastian “Nothing Exciting” Elizalde was 3 for 7 with 2 runs scored, and Donald “langweilig” Lutz was also 3 for 7 with a run scored and an RBI. Literally everyone from the bullpen pitched scoreless innings in relief. It’s late so you can go look it up in the box score right up there.

Daytona 4, Palm Beach 7

Daytona couldn’t overcome an early deficit, falling to Palm Beach 7-4. Keury “Actually, don’t call me Yella” Mella wasn’t sharp, lasting only 4.2 innings while giving up 7 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2. Chad “Less fun than Donald” Tromp was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. Ty “Boring Article” Washington was 2 for 4 on the night. Nick “I don’t like fun, either” Howard struck out 2 in a scoreless inning of relief.

Dayton 2, South Bend 5

Dayton continued their season of no-fun with a 5-2 loss to South Bend. Jose “No” Lopez had some fun, but not too much, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 8 in 5.2 innings. Shed “Don’t worry, I won’t keep you” Long was 1 for 3 with a 2-run home run. Brantley “Boring FO” Bell added 2 hits for the Dragons. Michael Sullivan bored us all with 2 strikeouts in 1.1 scoreless innings.
