Louisville Bats
Louisville 4, Durham 2
"Buffalo" Bob Stephenson took the start on Friday and was exceptional. Stephenson pitched 6 innings and gave up 3 hits, 2 earned runs, 3 walks, and struck out 11. I believe I had heard that 11 strikeouts was a career high for Stephenson. Jumbo "Mumbo" Diaz picked up the save by throwing 1.2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts. Jesse Winker continues to find his power by hitting a 3 run dinger in the 6th inning.
Louisville 1, Durham 3
Saturday, the game was more of a reliever special with A.J. Morris pitching 3 scoreless innings, Keyvius "Long Hair Don't Care" Sampson pitched 2 scoreless with 4 strikeouts, and Stephen Johnson pitched a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. Brandon "Moss" Allen was 1 for 2 with 2 walks, and Uncle Jesse Winker was 1 for 4 with the lone RBI.
Louisville 3, Durham 0
Cody Reed didn't strike out as many people as Robert Stephenson, but he's doing his damnedest to show that he's just as good. Reed pitched 7 scoreless innings while only giving up 1 hit, 1 walk, and he struck out 5. Reed currently owns a 1.62 ERA. Steve "Delawhat?" Delabar pitched 2 scoreless and picked up the save. Jesse Winker was 1 for 3 with a walk, Hernan "The Barbarian" Iribarren was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, and Steve "So" Selsky was 2 for 3 with a double.
John Lamb will take the mound tonight at 7:05 PM EST.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos
Pensacola had their game on Friday postponed and they made it up by playing two on Saturday.
Pensacola 3, Birmingham 8
General Jackson Stephens took the start and wasn't at his best (4 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 3 K). Nick Routt pitched a scoreless inning. Donald Lutz was 2 for 3 with a triple, a 2 run HONKBLAST, and 3 RBI. Phillip "Phlervin" Ervin was 1 for 1 with a walk and 2 runs scored.
Pensacola 5, Birmingham 2
Rookie "Of The Year" Davis continued his strong start of the season when he took the mound for Game 2. He pitched 5 scoreless innings and only allowed 2 hits and struck out 1. He didn't walk a batter. His ERA sits at 0.78 for the year. Alejandro "Cha-Ching!" Chacin struck out four batters in 1.1 innings to lock down the save. Phil Ervin hit a solo wanger in only a small part of his 2 for 3 night where he also walked and scored 3 runs. Oh, he also stole a base which was his 8th of the season. Calten "Forget the R" Daal was 2 for 3 with a walk.
Pensacola 4, Birmingham 6
Naughty Nick Travieso had what was, I believe, his first hiccup of the season. Nick pitched 4.1 innings where he's give up 4 hits, 5 earned runs, 3 walks, and struck out 6. One of those hits was a dinger. Daniel "Winky" Wright and Carlos Gonzalez both had scoreless appearances. Wright struck out three batters, and Gonzalez struck out 1. Phillip Ervin hit another dinger, this one a two run shot, and Brandon Dixon contributed with a solo homer of his own. Tony "Who's The Boss" Renda was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, a RBI, and a walk.
Amir Garrett starts today at 11:30 AM CT.
Daytona Tortugas
Daytona 7, Dunedin 1
Tyler "Darth" Mahle continued to be my favorite by throwing 6 scoreless, awesome innings. He only gave up 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. Nick Howard pitched a scoreless inning with a walk, and Jimmy Herget struck out 2 in his inning of scoreless relief. Aristides "Heiress Titties" Aquino was 2 for 3 with a solo dinger, walk, and scored 3 runs. Blake Butler hit a 3 run shot on a 3 for 4 night. They were pretty much the whole offense.
Daytona 11, Dunedin 6
Keury "Hella" Mella put up a good start for the Tortugas. He pitched 6 innings pitched, gave up 3 hits, 1 earned run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Evan Mitchell was the only reliever to have a scoreless appearance with 1 scoreless inning. Aristides Aquino continued with the power bat. He went 3 for 5 with 2 run homer and 5 RBI. Taylor "Sparkly" Sparks was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and walk. Blake Butler and Ty Washington both had multi-hit games. Washington also had a walk.
Dayton was off on Sunday.
Daytona plays today at 6:00 PM EST but there isn't a listed pitcher.
Dayton Dragons
Dayton 4, Clinton 6
Anthony "Disco DeSclafani made another rehab start, which is good because I bet the Reds miss him. He pitched 5 scoreless innings only giving up 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 3. Jacob Constante pitched 3 innings and gave up 6 earned runs. He walked 5. He wasn't good. James Vasquez was 2 for 4 and Mitch Piatnik "At The Disco" was 2 for 4.
Dayton 0, Clinton 4
Dayton's defense wasn't good in this game, and Jose Lopez probably wishes they were. Lopez pitched 4.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, and 6 K. Ariel Hernandez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts, and Conor "Santa" Krauss pitched a scoreless inning. Brantley Bell was 2 for 4.
Dayton 4, Clinton 8
Franderlin Romero started the game and was solid in the 3.1 innings he pitched. He only allowed 1 unearned run while giving up 4 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 1 batter. Brantley Bell was 2 for 5 and Mitch "Smokes" Trees was 2 for 4.
Dayton plays tonight at 7:30 PM EST with Jake Johnson on the mound.
