Farmers Only: Phillip Ervin Starts The Season With A Bang

Louisville didn't start their season off on the right foot with a 10-2 loss to the Toledo Mud Hens.  It looks like the Bats were really planning on Robert Stephenson being their Opening Day starter.  The game was handled by a collection of relievers, and the first few didn't really do too well for their team.  There were a couple names of note, though.  Ryan "Bad Speller" Mattheus and Steve "Blackout At" Delabar both pitched scoreless frames with two strikeouts.  Delabar also mixed in a walk.  Jesse Winker did #WinkerThings with a 2 for 4 day.  Carlos Truinfel also had two hits.  The Bats will play tonight at 6:35 PM EST with Cody Reed making his AAA debut.

Pensacola had much better luck than their Louisville counterparts when they faced off against the Mississippi Braves with a 3-1 victory.  It all began with a solid start from Nick "Scary Santa" Travieso.  Nick pitched 5 innings without giving up an earned run, gave up 4 hits with 2 walks, and he struck out four batters.  Kyle "Make You" McMyne picked up his first save the year.  Beau "Bang Me Like An" Amaral and Phillip Ervin had big nights.  Ervin hit a double, triple and scored a run, while Amaral went 1 for 2 with a RBI and two walks.  Chad "Walla Walla" Wallach had no hits but walked twice.  Amir Garrett will pitch tonight at 7:00 pm CT.

Daytona made a little walk-off magic with a 5-4 victory in the 10th inning.  Jon "Muskrat Love" Moscot pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless ball.  He gave up 5 hits, walked one, and struck out one.  He left the game early with something wrong with his hand.  Hopefully, it was just a blister.  Jake Paulson took over in relief and pitched 2.1 innings without giving up an earned run. Alex "Light Tower" Powers and Jacob "Skritch Scratch" Ehret pitched and both had mostly perfect appearances.  Ehret struck out 3 in 2 innings and picked up the win.  Avain Rachel hit a 2 run dinger and walked.  Aristides "Horse Shit" Aquino was 2 for 5 with a double, and Taylor "Hot" Sparks was 2 for 3 with a walk. Tyler Mahle will start tonight at 6:35 PM EST.

Dayton wasn't as lucky, losing to Bowling Green by a score of 7-1.  Tanner Rainey "Skies" pitched 3 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts.  Manny Aybar pitched a scoreless frame in relief. Narcisco "I Am Not A" Crook was 2 for 4, and he was the only Dragon with a multi-hit game.   Jacob Constante pitches tonight at 7:35 PM EST.
