Alfredo Simon v. Jason Hammel

Alfredo Simon makes his return to the Reds for a day game today. The Reds could level the series, and build some much needed momentum going into New York tomorrow.

Simon hasn't pitched since April 15th, and hasn't started since April 13th. It briefly looked like he might be the odd man out in the rotation and make the move to the bullpen full time, especially with so many starting options here, but he's back with another chance. Giving players lots of chances seems to be something the Reds have been doing a lot of lately.

On the other side, Jason Hammel gets the ball. Even with Jake Arrieta doing what he's done do far, Hammel has been one of the best pitchers in the Cubs' rotation so far, only giving up 2 runs in 3 starts, going 6 innings every single time. He's going to be a tough nut to crack, but the Reds showed last night that their bats may be waking up a little bit. Let's hope there's another big crowd today.

Go Reds! They're my favorite team!
