Louisville Bats 0, Columbus Clippers 1
The Bats were left scrambling on the mound this evening, after Robert Stephenson was called up to make a spot start for the Reds, and the collective efforts of their pitching staff delivered. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as they were defeated 1-0 by the Columbus Clippers. Keyvius "and Peele" Sampson got the start for Louisville, throwing 3.1 solid innings, giving up an unearned run on only 1 hit, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Timely hitting was not on the side of the Bats tonight, who had 9 hits on the evening with no runs to show for it. Ramon "Clutch Man Monie" Cabrera was 2 for 4 on the evening and Bryson Smith had a multi-hit night of his own, going 3 for 4. Chad "Generic Relief Pitcher Name" Rogers, Stephen "Long" Johnson, and Pedro Villareal all combined for scoreless innings out of the pen.
Tim Adleman pitches tomorrow against Columbus at 11:05 AM ET.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3, Biloxi Shuckers 4
The Blue Wahoos were unable to hold off Biloxi in the late innings on Tuesday night, falling 4-3 to the Shuckers. Sal "Vatore" Romano got the start, pitching 5.2 innings and giving up 3 runs on 9 hits while striking out 5. The hits were lacking for Pensacola on the other side of the ball, recording only 4 on the evening. Alex "The Curse of The" Blandino was 1 for 4 with a double and RBI and Beau Amaral "Ackbar" continued his hot hitting with a 1 for 4, 1 RBI performance of his own. Wandy, the Peralta that doesn't misplace an H in his name, gave up the winning run in the 7th, but also struck out 2 in an inning and a third of work.
Jackson Stephens pitches tomorrow against Biloxi at 10:40 AM CT.
Daytona Tortugas 1, Clearwater Threshers 4
Daytona was unable to muster up enough offense to keep Clearwater at bay last night, falling 4-1 to the Threshers. Keury Mella "Mella Mella Eh Eh Eh" pitched decent for the Tortugas, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits while walking 2 and striking out 5. The offense was poor, striking out 13 times on the night. Chad "The Donald" Tromp was 1 for 3 with an RBI, driving in Blake Butler, who was 1 for 3 with the only run scored on the night. "You're so" Avain Rachal thought this song was about him, and all that got him was a golden sombrero on the night, going 0 for 3 with 3 Ks. Ouch.
Wyatt Strahan pitches tomorrow against Clearwater at 12:00 PM ET.
Dayton Dragons 9, Great Lakes Loons 4
The Dayton Dragons decided to go against the organizational grain and put some dang runs on the board, defeating Great Lakes 9-4. Jose Lopez got the start for Dayton, giving up 4 earned runs on only 3 hits while striking out 7 in 6 innings of work. James "Sergeant Sammy" Vasquez was 2 for 5 with a dinger, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored, Ed "Balls" Charlton was 2 for 5 with a double and RBI, and Luis "Speedy" Gonzalez was also 2 for 5 with a double, RBI, and a run scored.
