Louisville Bats
Friday 4/15 - Louisville 3, Toledo 9
On Friday, Louisville fell to 2-4 with a 9-3 loss to the Toledo Mud Hens. Things started off well enough for the Bats, with RBI doubles from Jermaine "Dupree" Curtis and something called a Carlos Triunfel in the 2nd inning giving them an early 3-0 lead. Things would take a nose-dive in the late innings, though. After Tim Adleman, who gave up 3 runs off 6 hits in 5.0 innings, was pulled, Ryan Mattheus "Band" and Stephen "Johnson and" Johnson decided to do their best impression of the Reds' bullpen and each gave up three runs in their appearances. Other than the second inning, the offense was mostly kept at bay. The aforementioned Curtis was 2-2 with 2 RBI, and Jose "Pizza" Peraza and Brandon "Cup of Coffee" Allen each recorded hits on the night.
Saturday 4/16 - Louisville 6, Toledo 8
While the offense returned for the Bats on Saturday, it wasn't quite enough in a 8-6 loss to the Mud Hens. John "Had a Little" Lamb made his first rehab start in his return from off-season back surgery. He went 3 innings and gave up 6 hits, 3 runs, walked 1 and struck out 4. Not bad for his first start. The offense was clicking on Saturday, with Jose Peraza and Jesse Winker "I hardly knew her" each collecting three hits. Juan Perez and Brandon Allen also had multi-hit games, and Kyle "To The Window, To The" Waldrop was 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Unfortunately the bullpen bullpen'd and gave up 5 runs in the 7th inning to give up the lead, and eventually the win.
Sunday 4/17 - Lousville 3, Toledo 2
The Bats were able to end their 3-game losing skid on Sunday with a 3-2 victory over Toledo. Although there weren't runs to show for it, the Bats' bats started to heat up yesterday, especially at the top of the order. Juan Perez, Jose Peraza, and Jesse Winker all had 2 hits for the Bats, with Winker driving in a run. Jermaine Curtis was 3 for 3 with an RBI, raising his average to a measly .533 on the season. AJ Morris got the start and went 5.1 innings and only allowed 1 run while walking 3 and striking out 6. Drew Hayes pitched 2 scoreless innings and got the win for the Bats.
Josh Smith takes the mound against the Columbus Clippers tonight at 7:05 ET.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos
Friday 4/15 - Pensacola 4, Jacksonville 3
It took 11 innings, but the Wahoos got it done against the Jacksonville Suns on Friday with a 4-3 victory. "Action" Jackson Stephens got the start and pitched well, giving up only 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 7 in 5.2 innings. Chad "Walla Walla" Wallach was 2 for 3 and walloped his first Wallach bomb of the season and had 2 RBI. Barrett "A Little Place Called" Astin pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief and got the win for the Wahoos.
Saturday 4/16 - Pensacola 3, Jacksonville 0
Pensacola continued their hot start to the season with a 3-0 victory over the Suns on Saturday. Rookie "Rowengartner" Davis got the start and was dominant, going 6 innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 4. The bullpen was lights out with Wandy "Wily" Peralta throwing 2 scoreless innings and Kyle McMyne throwing 1 scoreless and earning his 3rd save of the season. Offensively, Beau "F me like an" Amaral was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI and Phil "Phlervin" Ervin was 1 for 3 with a double of his own.
Sunday 4/17 - Pensacola 5, Biloxi 0
The Wahoos continued their early-season dominance by shucking the Biloxi Shuckers for their second straight shutout. "If being" Daniel "is wrong, then I don't wanna be" Wright continued his strong start to the season, giving up only 1 hit in 5 innings while striking out 6. Phil Ervin went 4 for 4 with a run scored and Beau Amaral went 2 for 5 with his second dinger of the season. Alex "The Great" Blandino continued his early-season struggles, going 0 for 5 on the night. Nick Routt, El'Hajj Muhammad, and Alejandro "Jhoulys" Chacin combined for 4 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Blue Wahoos will face off against Biloxi tonight at 6:40 CT with Amir Garrett getting the start.
Daytona Tortugas
Friday 4/15 - Daytona 5, Fort Meyers 6
The Tortugas lost their 5th in a row on Friday, falling in a close one to Fort Meyers. Wyatt "Derp" Trahan got the start, giving up 3 runs in 6.0 innings on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4. Blake "Billy" Butler was 2 for 5 with a double, 3 RBI, and his first dinger of the season. Saturday 4/16 - Daytona 6, Fort Meyers 4
Daytona was able to halt their losing skid, defeating Fort Meyers 6-4 on Saturday. Tejay "Is it pronounced Antwan?" Antone went 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 earned runs while walking 2 and striking out 5. Angelo Gumbs kept drumming along in his hot start, going 4 for 4 with a double, 3 RBI, and his first home run of the season. Brian "Beef" O'Grady had 2 hits on the night and Taylor Sparks was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI. Nick ":(" Howard threw a scoreless inning in relief, and Jacob "Record Scratch" Ehret earned his second save of the season.
Sunday 4/17 - Daytona 0, Fort Meyers 9
Daytona pulled the "anti-Wahoo" and went and got shut out by Fort Meyers on Sunday. "His name is" Jake Paulson unfortunately went the way of Robert Paulson in his start, lasting only 3.2 innings, giving up 10 hits and 8 earned runs. The offense was pretty much non-existent, as it goes in a shut-out. A guy named Jonathan Reynoso got a base hit, so that's cool I guess. Seth Varner and Alex "Danger" Powers gave up 1 run in 5.1 innings of relief.
Tyler Mahle gets the start tonight against Fort Meyers at 7:05 PM ET
Dayton Dragons
Friday 4/15 - Dayton 3, West Michigan 5
The Dragons saw a 9th inning rally fall short, falling to the West Michigan Whitecaps 5-3 on Friday. Franderlyn Romero, a name that I did not know existed, went 5.2 innings, giving up all 5 runs on 10 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Tyler "TySteve" Stephenson was 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored, Narcisso "Let Him" Crook was 2 for 4 with a run scored, and Argenis "I also have a weird name" Aldazoro was 1 for 4 while driving in a run. Michael "Sully" Sullivan and Sarkis Ohanian added to the alphabet soup with scoreless innings in relief.
Saturday 4/16 - Dayton 2, West Michigan 3
Dayton saw another late-inning rally fall short, falling 3-2 to West Michigan for their 7th loss in a row. Ty Boyles pitched well, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 4 in 7.1 innings. Jose "OK Google" Siri was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Luis Gonzalez was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Jeremy "Evel" Kivel came on in relief and threw 1.2 scoreless.
Sunday 4/17 - Dayton 1, West Michigan 0
The Dayton Dragons reversed their losing fortunes and beat West Michigan 1-0 to stop their 7-game skid. Tanner "Bringer of" Rainey went 5 innings, giving up only 2 hits and striking out 2 White Caps. Shed "Love You" Long "Time" went 1 for 3 and scored the only run and Tyler Stephenson was also 1 for 3. That's about it for the offense. Jake Johnson, Juan Martinez, and Jeremy Kivel combined to only give up 1 hit in 4 shut-out innings from the bullpen.
Jacob Constante takes the mound tonight against the Great Lakes Loons at 6:05 PM ET
