Louisville didn't play AGAIN because it rained in Columbus. Remember when I said Toledo was a shitty city? Nope. Columbus now takes the cake. I need some Cody Reed throwing baseballs in my life, and they aren't giving it to me!
Pensacola beat the Braves, 5-1, behind a solid debut by Rookie "Of The Year" Davis. The headliner of the trade for Aroldis Chapman pitched 5 innings and gave up 4 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. That will do for a first start. Wandy "Blondie" Peralta pitched two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Eric "Juggs" Jagielo continued to show the type of power we expected with a 2 for 5 night. Those two hits were both doubles, and he sported 2 RBI. Christ on a cracker there were actually a lot of multi-hit games. Zach "Soft J" Vincej was 3 for 5 with a double and RBI, Phillip Ervin was 2 for 4 with a run scored, Sebastian "Lizard People" Elizalde was 2 for 4 with a double, triple, and a run scored, and Chad Wallach was 2 for 3 with a walk, RBI, and a run scored. Though, there was one very sad story. Donald Lutz had a double, super duper, Golden Sombrero. He was 0 for 5 with 5 strikeouts and still hasn't recorded a hit on the season. Wah.
Nick Travieso will pitch tonight at 6:30 PM CT.
Daytona gave up 5 runs in the 8th inning and would end up losing, 7-3. Tejay "TJ" Antone had trouble keeping runners off the bases but also kept them from scoring. He would pitch 5 innings of 1 earned run ball with 5 hits allowed, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. When I saw that 5 runs were given up in the 5th I said, "Don't let it be Nick Howard. Please." Yep. It was freaking Nick Howard. He didn't even record an out before surrendering 3 walks, 2 hits, and 5 earned runs. I could say bad words about that. I'm mostly just disappointed. Seth Varner pitched an inning of relief, which I found weird. Maybe he was just due for a bullpen, and they threw him out there. Angelo "Numb" Gumbs was 2 for 4, and so was Jeff "Peanut Butter" Gelalich.
Jacob Paulson will pitch tonight at 6:35 PM EST.
Dayton lost a close one to the Lansing Lugnuts, 6-4. Ty "Lancing" Boyles didn't really pitch well (4 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 1 K). However, Austin "Orwelian" Orewiler did pitch three scoreless innings of relief with 2 strikeouts. Shedric "Dong" Long and Narciso Crook were both 2 for 4. Both hit dingers, and Long's was his second in as many days. His was a 2 run shot in the 8th to tie the ball game. Mitch "Picnic" Piatnik walked twice and scored two runs.
Tanner Rainey takes the mound tonight at 7:05 PM EST.
