Farmers Only Weekend Harvest: Protip - Don't Play Baseball In Toledo

Seriously, it snows there, and they won't let you.

We were suppose to get a Cody Reed debut and some Winker bashing this weekend, but they played in Toledo and Toledo freaking sucks.  Every single game was postponed due to snow or something else.  They play in Columbus on Monday with a 6:35 PM ET start.  Columbus is a much nicer city than Toldeo, and I'll assume we'll get to see Cody Reed start there

Pensacola Blue Wahoos

Friday, the Wahoos lost to the Mississippi Braves by a score of 2-0.  However, that had nothing to do with Amir Garrett's basketball loving heart.  He only gave up 2 earned runs in 6 innings of his AA debut.  He'd allow 4 hits, 1 walk, and strikeout 4.  He was betrayed by his teammates who could only scratch together 6 hits. Zach "Y J" Vincenj and Sebastian "Crab Legs" Elizalde both had multi-hit games.

Saturday, it took the Wahoos 13 innings to win it, but win it they did, 5-4.  Kyle McMyne got the win because he actually blew the save and was still on the lineup card when the winning run crossed the plate.  Baseball is dumb. "Sweaty" Sal Romano got the start and danced around a lot of trouble.  He went 5.1 IP giving up only 2 earned run, but he gave up 9 hits, walked 2, and only struck out 3.  That's a WHIP of like 2.0. "Double" Barrel Astin, Wandy Peralta, Nick Routt, Daniel "Winky" Wright, and Alejandro Chacin (who got the save) all pitched a scoreless inning or more.  Tony "Who's The Boss" Renda was 3 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.  Beau "Drum Solo" Amaral was 2 for 5 with a RBI and a run scored.

Sunday, Pensacola walked away with another win, 4-2.  General Jackson Stephens took the start and did the most with his AA debut.  He went 5 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, and struck out 9.  That's just dandy. El'Hajjy Muhammad (2 K's) and Carlos Gonzalez (3 K's and the save) both pitched two innings of scoreless relief.  Second baseman, Tony "Slenda" Renda continued his hot hitting with a 3 for 4 day with a double and a walk.  Eric "Juggalo" Jagielo was 2 for 4 with a 2 run tater and 3 RBI in total.

The Wahoos will continue play this morning at 10:35 AM CT with Rookie Davis on the mound.

Daytona Tortugas

Friday, the Tortugas broke out the whoopin' sticks for a 10-4 victory over Brevard County. Tyler "Poppin'" Mahle didn't fare too well and must have been on some kind of pitch count.  He only pitched 3 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 3 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Seth "Vinny Vanny" Varner combined with Mahle and went 3 innings but only gave up 1 run on 4 hits, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.  Former first round pick, Nick Howard, pitched a scoreless inning with 2 walks, a hit allowed, and a strikeout. Avain Rachel and Garrett Boulware "Party" both hit 2-run dingers.  Angelo "Bleeding" Gumbs "Murphy" was 3 for 5 with a RBI and a double.

Saturday, the Manatees jumped all over the Tortugas, 9-6.  Keury "Hella" Mella took the mound for the start and was roughed up (3.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 1 HR).  Ismael Guillon, who is back with the Reds, struck out 3 in 2.1 innings but he also gave up 2 runs.  Brian "Beef" O'Grady was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI.

Sunday, Daytona decided to keep with the winning stuff with a 2-1 sneaker.  Wyatt "Earp" Strahan was wild but kept the runs off the board (5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, and 6 K).  Evan Mitchell picked up the win (5 K's) and Jacob "Scratched Record" Ehret picked up the save (1 BB, 1 K) with two scoreless innings apiece.  Brian "Beefy Bat" O'Grady hit a solo dinger with a walk, and Aristides "Heiress Titties" Aquino was 3 for 3 with a walk and a double.  I don't think that latter thing has ever happened.  At least, not for two years.

Tejay Antone will take the mound for the Tortugas tonight at 6:35 PM EST.

Dayton Dragons

Friday, the Dragons dropped their second game of the season, 9-4.  So, the pitching just wasn't very good and I don't wanna talk about it.  Tyler Stephenson walked twice with no hits on the night.  Shedric "Dong" Long and James Vasquez both had multi-hit nights.

Saturday, Dayton won their first game, 7-2.  Jose "Porky" Lopez put up a solid debut, pitching 5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1BB, 5 K.  Jeremy Kivel pitched 1 IP, with a hit allowed, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts.  Jake "Bronenworth" Cronenworth was 3 for 5 with a double.

Sunday, Dayton couldn't continue the good times with a 8-7 loss to Bowling Green.  Franderlyn "Bandolin" Romero didn't pitch horribly, but his defense let him down.  He pitched 5.1 IP, giving up 7 runs but only 3 earned with 9 hits allowed, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts.  Juan Martinez and Michael Sullivan combined for a scoreless inning of relief each.  Shedric Long was 2 for 3 with a 2 run dinger and 3 RBI.  Tyler "Kennesaw Mountain" Stephenson was 2 for 4 with a double.  Shane Mardirosian was 3 for 5 with a triple and a RBI.

Ty Boyles will pitch tonight at 7:00 PM EST against the Lansing Lugnuts.
