After handling their respective division series opponents with relative ease, the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians face off in the opening game of the American League Championship Series tonight in Cleveland. Toronto, who dingered their way through the division series by dropping an incredible 8 bombs in their 3 games, will look to keep their high flying offense rolling. Getting the start for Toronto will be Marco Estrada and his impressive change-up. Estrada will look to build off his Game 1 start, where he gave up only 1 earned run in 8.1 innings while striking out 6.
The Indians will counter with Corey Kluber, who was just as impressive in his ALDS start but faces a tall task keeping the Blue Jays quiet. Kluber baffled the Red Sox over 7 innings, giving up only 3 hits and no runs with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. The Indians, like their opponents, also come into the series fresh off a sweep of their LDS opponents. They also have the longest non-Chicago drought of World Series titles, winning their last back in 1948. Hopefully this first game can live up to the fireworks that were on display last night in the National League.
First pitch will be tonight at 8:08 PM ET on TBS. Let’s go baseball! You’re our favorite team!
