Louisville Bats
Louisville had themselves a successful weekend, winning 2 out of 3 games.
Friday, Louisville had their bats (hehe) working. Matt "Busch Light" Buschmann pitched 6 innings giving up 6 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Jose De La "Joe" Torre, Jumbo "Mumbo" Diaz, and Joe Paterson all pitched a scoreless inning. 7 Bats had multi-hit games. Ramon "Angel" Cabrera hit a 2-run wanger and Yorman "Call Him Up" Rodriguez had 4 RBI.
Saturday, the Bats had their game suspended due to rain, and they picked it back up on Sunday and won, 6-1. Dylan Axelrod pitched 5.1 innings before the game was suspended, I assume. He gave up 1 hit, 1 earned run, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Jumbito Diaz picked up the save with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. He gave up a hit, walked 2, and struck out 2. Kristopher "Kolumbus" Negron got it going in AAA with a 2 run homer and a walk. Brennan "The Invisible" Boesch, who I didn't know was in AAA, was 2 for 3 with a RBI and a walk.
Sunday, the Bats finished their day with a 8-2 whoopin'. Donovan Hand didn't have his best stuff (4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1BB, 2 K). Hernan Iribarren was 2 for 4.
Barkevius starts tonight at 7:05 PM EST.
Pensacola Blue Wahoos
The Wahoos also had a good weekend, winning 2 out of 3 games.
Friday, the Wahoos were shutout, 1-0. Daniel Wright had a helluva game (7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K). Kyle "Mr. Myme" McMyne pitched a scoreless inning. Jesse Winker was 2 for 3 with 2 walks. Cool.
Saturday, Pensacola returned the favor, beating Mississippi 1-0. Timmy Adleman may have had his best start of the season, if I had any kind of memory, going 8 innings, giving up 4 hits, 0 earned runs, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Zack Weiss pitched a scoreless inning. Jesse Winker was 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. Cool. Juan Perez and Kyle "What's a Skip worth?" Skipworth had multi-hit games.
Sunday, Pensacola lost, 3-1. Bob Steve didn't have his strikeout stuff going, but was able to keep the runs off the board (6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K). Jimmy Moran pitched a scoreless inning. Marquez Smith was 2 for 4.
Double Barrel Astin pitches tonight at 7:00 PM CST.
Daytona Tortugas
Dayton only won 1 game this weekend. Boooooo. That' sucks.
Friday, Daytona lost to Brevard County, 9-5. Nick Routt had a rough game (4.1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K). Scott Brattvet and Alejandro Chacin pitched scoreless innings. Taylor Sparks was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and 1 run scored. Alex "The Great" Blandino and Carlton "Dance Dance" Daal had 2 hit games.
Saturday, Daytona got rolled again, 8-3. Jackson Stephens gave up 1 earned run in 3 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Nolan "Ryan" Becker pitched 3 scoreless innings with a strikeout, and Evan Mitchell had a scoreless appearance. Nick Howard gave up 4 earned runs and 4 walks in 0.2 innings. Taylor Sparks was 2 for 3 with a walk.
Sunday, the Tortugas won, 2-0. Amir Garrett pitched 5 scoreless innings with 3 hits, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Joel "Shiny Ass" Bender, El'Hajj "Praise Be To" Muhammad, and Alejandro Chacin all pitched and didn't give up a run. Carlton Daal and Junior Felix Arias both had 3 hit games.
Sal Romano pitches tonight at 6:35 PM EST.
Dayton Dragons
Dayton, much like their namesake Daytona, only won 1 game this weekend.
Friday, the Dragons lost, 1-0. Wyatt "Earp" Strahan pitched a complete game (8 IP, 7 H, 1 earned run, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts). Ronald "Muh" Bueno was 2 for 4.
Saturday, the Dragons beat Bowling Green, 6-2. It was a bullpen game for Dayton. Jake Paulson started and went 3 innings, giving up 4 hits, 0 earned runs, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts. Michael Sullivan pitched 3 scoreless innings with a walk and 4 strikeouts, and Jeremy "Evil" Kivel pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Gavin "Deep in" LaValley was 3 for 5 with a solo wanger and 2 RBI. It was his third of the year. 4 other Dragons had multi-hit games.
Sunday, Dayton lost, 10-2. Junior Morillo gave up 9 earned runs in 4.1 innings and gave up 3 wangers. Gavin LaValley had a RBI single and a walk, and Paul Kronenfeld was 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI.
Mahle pitches tonight at 7:00 PM EST.
Billings Mustangs
Billings only won one game, too. Win more games!
Friday, Billings lost, 9-5. Jacob "Constantine" Constante pitched 3 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K. The bullpen got roughed up, too. Kevin Garcia and Jonathan "Martin?" Martijn had multi-hit games and a RBI.
Saturday, Billings beat Missoula, 9-7. Tanner Rainey got roughed up. Junior "Josephine" Joselin Arias had a good game, pitching 3.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, and 2 K. Needs to cut down on those walks, though. Jake "Jingleheimer" Johnson, Jacob "Broody" Moody, and Austin "Massachusetts" Orewiler all had scoreless appearances out of the pen. Reydel "Hells Bells" Medina and Mitch "Smokes" Trees both had 2 hit games with wangers. Kevin Garcia was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Sunday, Billings lost, 5-0. The hitting was bad. Sarkis Ohanian and Juan Martinez had scoreless appearances. Not cool.
TBD pitches tonight at 7:05 PM MT.
Arizona Reds
Friday, the Reds played the Dodgers and lose 4-1. All four of the Dodger runs were unearned. Wendolyn Bautista had a heck of a day (5 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K). Manuel Aybar and Pedro Damian also had scoreless appearances. Juan Duran had a solo wanger and a double.
As of 11:40 PM EST, the AZL Reds were beating the Dodgers 9-2. I don't have the patience to wait for this one to end. I'll update in the morning. Maybe. James Vasquez has hit 2 dingers in the game. That's pretty cool. *Update* The Reds ended up winning 12-8. Cory Thompson, Raul "Mondesi" Wallace, and Jake "Truchbull" Turnbull all had two hits in the game.
Editors Note: The Pensacola and Arizona portions have been updated because I make mistakes. Sorry.
