Electric Boogaloo

Frank Victores-USA TODAY Sports

Louisville railroaded the RailRiders, beating Scranton 4-2.  Dylan "Cleats of Spanish Leather" Axelrod tossed 6.1 innings of 2-run ball, striking out 5 and walking 1.  Our Man Yorman went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk.  Jason "La Petite" Bourgeois went 2-5 with an RBI triple.  With all the call ups to the big league club, this team has become pretty boring.  Donovan Hand gets the start tonight for the Bats.

Pensacola is on their All-Star Break.  They'll reconvene Wednesday.

Daytona tried to rally late, but fell short and lost to the Clearwater Threshers 4-3.  Alex Blandino went 2-4 with a double, while Phil Ervin went 1-4 with a single.  Robert "El Mariachi" Ramirez el kabong'd a double and a dinger on a 2-4 night.  Jackson Stephens somehow only managed to allow 4 runs (3 earned) on 11 hits and a walk over 6 innings, while striking out 3.  Nick Howard walked 4 batters in 0.2 innings, but was saved by a double play and escaped without allowing a run. Amir Garrett takes the hill for the Tortugas tonight at 7:05.

Dayton is off for their All-Star Break as well.

Billings beat the Missoula Osprey in a barnburner, winning 8-7.  Tanner Rainey made his pro debut, striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 hits over 2 scoreless innings.  The other Junior Arias came on and gave up 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and 2 walks in 3.2 innings.  Tyler Stephenson went 1-2 with a double and 2 walks, lowering his batting average to .625.  Jose Lopez faces off against the Osprey tonight at 9:05.

The AZL Reds had the night off.

Other Notes:

  • The Reds signed their 2nd round pick Tony Santillan for an over-slot bonus of $1.35 million.
  • That leaves Miles Gordon (Rd. 4) and Ian Kahaloa (Rd. 5) as the only unsigned picks through the top 11 rounds.
  • The Reds acquired LHP Patrick Schuster and booted Lou Marson from the roster to make room.
