First, I'd like to apologize for this being late. My sleep schedule is all messed up and I slept all morning.
Lousville Bats
Friday, the Bats lost a really interesting game against Pawtuckett, 1-0. Josh Smith got the start and was anything but boring. He pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Sam LeCure pitched a scoreless inning. The Bats recorded one hit, and that was a single by Eugenio Suarez.
Saturday, the Bats would fall short again, 5-4, but at least the put up a fight. Mongo gave a decent start, I guess (6 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K), but Jose De La Torre gave up the winning run. Irving "Moo Moo" Falu was 3 for 4 with a double, and Ivan De "Terrible" Jesus and Steve "So" Selsky was 2 for 4. Eugenio Suarez hit a 2 run dinger.
Sunday went much better with a 5-1 victory. Like many of his starts, Jon Moscot Love recorded another win to improve to 7-1. He went 6 innings, recording 4 hits, 1 earned run, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. The only Pawtucket run scored on a solo home run. Eugenio Suarez, Ramon Cabrera, and Ryan LaMarre were all 2 for 4. Suarez his another dinger, the solo kind, and LaMarre hit 2 doubles.
The game tonight against Syracuse is already postponed because of rain? What the hell?
Pensacola Blue Wahoos
The Wahoos only played one game this weekend because of rain Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game was postponed, and it looks like Sunday's games were straight up cancelled.
Friday, the Wahoos didn't inspire much confidence in the weekend, anyway, with a 1-0 loss to Mississippi. Robert Stephenson made his best start of the season and probably his best start in AA, Bob Steve pitched 7 scoreless innings, giving up 3 hits, 1 walk, and 10 strikeouts. That's complete dominance, and Stephenson has his ERA down to 4.47 on the season. Juan Perez was 3 for 3 with a triple.
Wandy Peralta starts tonight.
Daytona Torgugas
It must not have rained in Daytona because they finished all three games.
Friday, did their best to put their bats on the ball with a 10-1 victory over Bradenton. Nick Travieso picked up the win with 5.2 innings pitched, 6 hits, 0 earned runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Nolan "NOLA" Becker and Alejandro "Ale Ale Axen Free" Chacin pitched scoreless innings. There was a lot of offense in this one, obviously, as the Tortugas racked up 17 hits. Sweet sassy molassy, did Phillip Ervin catch some clutchy fire. He went 4 for 6 with a double and 4 RBI. Alex "Hambino" Blandino was 2 for 5 with a double, Chad "Walla Walla" Wallach was 3 for 4, and Robert "Big Bob" Ramirez was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.
Saturday, the bats were a bit more quiet, but the Tortugas scratched out a 4-2 victory. Woah, Amir "Basketball is Dumb" Garrett was amazing. He pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits, 2 runs, 0 earned, 0 walks, and struck out 12. Holy falcon shit. His ERA is a tidy 2.40 and it might be time to give him a call up to AA. Joel Bender pitched 1.2 scoreless innings. Chad "Daddy's Boy" Wallach hit a 2 run bomb, and Junior Felix Arias and Sebastian "Bach" Elizalde had 2 hit games.
Hahaha... Sunday, the Tortugas lost, 18-5. Nick Routt started and got knocked around. I'm not even going to talk about the rest of the bullpen. Wow. Look it up in the box score and laugh with me. Ervin, Blandino, Elizalde, and Romirez all had 2 hit games. In all, the Tortugas had 11 hits and 4 walks, but only 1 of them was of the extra base variety.
Asstin starts tonight at 7:05 EDT.
Dayton Dragons
Dayton lost 2 out of 3 games to the Lansing Lugnuts. Dang.
Friday, the Dragons lost, 5-4. Wyatt "Earp" Strahan was decent in his start (5.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, and 7 K), and Jeremy "Stuntman" Kivel pitched 1.2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts. Avain Rachal hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI, and Nick Benedetto was 2 for 3 with a double.
Saturday, Lansing would blank Dayton by a score of 4-0. Tejay "TJ" Antone went 5.2 innings giving up 5 hits, 4 earned runs, 1 walk, and striking out 7. Scott "Veteran Brat" Brattvet and Joe "Mantegna" Mantoni had scoreless appearances out of the pen. Gavin LaValley was 2 for 4 with a double.
Sunday, the Dragons won, 6-5 in 10 innings! Three pitchers split up the innings almost equally for the Dragons. Seth Varner started and pitched 3.2 innings, giving up 7 hits, 5 runs, 3 earned, 0 walks, and struck out 4. Jacob "Eh-Eh-Ret" Ehret and Conor "Santa" Krauss both pitched 3 innings (3.1 for Krauss) of scoreless baseball. Garrett "Malware" Bouware was 2 for 4 with a double and a dinger, and Ronald Bueno and Jimmy "Slim" Pickens both had 2 hits games.
