Farmers Only: Is Keyvius Sampson For Real?

Tell us, like, your opinion, man.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Louisville walked off against the Paw Sawx, winning 6-5 in 10 innings.  Dylan "Cleats of Spanish Leather" Axelrod got smacked around for 11 hits in 5.1 innings, giving up 4 earned runs while striking out 4 and walking 2.  Steve "Plus Plus Eyebrows" Selsky went 3-3 with a double, a walk, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Eugenio Suarez went just 1-5 with a single, but it was a timely single as it drove in Selsky in the bottom of the 10th to win the game.  Manny Parra makes his second rehab appearance for the Bats tonight at 6:35.

Pensacola beat the Jackson Generals 8-5.  Keyvius Sampson lowered his ERA to a very tidy 1.67 through his first 5 starts, tossing 5 scoreless innings, striking out 5 as well as walking 5.  The run prevention Sampson has shown has been nice, but he's walking a few too many batters so far to make me a believer.  The bullpen made this one closer than it should have, with Layne Somsen and Jacob Johnson coughing up 5 runs in middle relief.  Fortunately, the offense.  Zach Vincej went 2-4 with a 3-run dinger, and Juan "High Ho" Silva went 3-4 with a double and a triple.  "Tiny" Tim Adelman tiptoes through the tulips tonight at 7:35.

Daytona squeaked past the Jupiter Hammerheads, winning a 2-1 pitcher's duel.  Barrett Astin, who was part of the return in the Broxy deal, pitched a solid game, giving up just one unearned run while striking out 4 and walking 1.  Junior Arias went 2-4 with a double, and Alex Blandino went 2-2 with 2 singles and a walk.   Jackson Stephens takes the hill for the Tortugas tonight.

Dayton tried to mount a late rally against the Loons, but fell short and lost 4-3.  Seth Varner "Herzog" came down with a case of dingeritis, giving up 2 longballs and 4 runs in 6 innings.  Brian O'Grady had the Dragons' only XBH, going 1-3 with a double before getting ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the 6th innings.  Give 'em hell, Beef.  Mark "Stretch" Armstrong gets the start tonight at 7:00.
