Reds recall Pedro Villarreal, option Josh Smith

The Cincinnati Reds continued their bullpen dance today by recalling Pedro Villarreal from AAA Louisville and optioning Josh Smith, who they'd just recalled two days ago to provide bullpen depth while sort of circumventing MLB's 10 day minor league rule about optioned 40-man rostered players. Villarreal has pitched in 15 games for the Reds over the last 3 seasons, none of which has inspired much confidence (as his 6.33 ERA would attest to), and his 6.7 K/9 and 1.31 WHIP over 177 minor league games doesn't really suggest there's a lot of upside there. So long, Josh Smith; we hardly knew ye.
