The Reds start a new series in Cleveland after a "just what the doctor ordered" series in Miami to close the weekend out. The Indians have been floundering a bit as of late, and found themselves sellers at the deadline, sending Asdrubal Cabrera to Washington. They then went and swept the Rangers, so they're bouncing back right in time for the Reds to come into town.
Alfredo Simon will get the ball for the Reds, who is coming off of a pretty nice outing, his best since the All-Star break. He gave up just 2 runs in 7 innings of work against Arizona, and was the tough-luck loser.
He'll face Corey Kluber for the Tribe, who's pitching as well as any pitcher in baseball right now. He's coming off of two straight complete games, one of which was a shutout and one that didn't count as a shutout because he gave up an unearned run. He's got 18 strikeouts in his last two starts, and only given up 5 hits and no walks. That's getting it done. The Reds will hope to undo that progress tonight.
Interesting lineup, as Jack Hannahan gets to be the DH, an honor he never experienced in his two years in Cleveland, probably his best two seasons.
Go Reds!
