Farmers Only: Stormin' Yorman

Could we be seeing the Toolshed soon?

Sarah Glenn

Louisville carried a lead into the 9th inning, before Fabio Castillo and Justin Freeman barfed up a 5 spot, and the Bats lost 9-6.  Mikey O'Brien went 7 strong giving up 4 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2.  Rey "Put Him on the 40-man and Call Him Up" Navarro went 2-4 with a 2-run ding dong.  Up Next: Dylan "Beat Creator" Axelrod (8-8, 4.09 ERA) takes the mound, as the Bats host Columbus tonight at 7:05 ET.

Pensacola won a wild one in Jacksonville, holding off the Suns to win 7-6.  Yorman Rodriguez kept his foot on the gas, going 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI from the leadoff spot.  Our Man is having a hell of an August, slashing .282/.381/.507 with 3 dingers, 5 doubles, and a pretty tidy 2:1 K/BB ratio.  With the way this season is trending, would it be crazy for the Reds to give Yorman a September call up to give him a taste of the big leagues?  There's not really much of a downside that I can think of.  Michael Lorenzen got the hook after 3 innings, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and 3 walks, while fanning 3 batters.  I think it's safe to say that we will not be seeing Lorenzen in Cincinnati this September.  Up Next: Timothy Adleman (Who?) faces the Biscuits at 7:30 ET.

Bakersfield split a doubleheader against the Inland Empire.  In game one, the Blaze shut out the 66'ers 4-0.  Layne Somsen struck out 7 in 4 scoreless innings, and El'Hajj Muhammad struck out a pair of batters in his one inning pitched.  Jeff "Peanut Butter" Gelalich drove in 2 runs, going 1-2 with a double

The Blaze were not so fortunate in the nightcap, falling 3-1.  Mike Dennhardt got smacked around for 3 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings, and got tagged with the loss.  Harold Riggins went 1-2 with a double and a walk, and Juan Perez went 2-3 with a pair of singles.  Up Next: The Storm roll into Bakersfield tonight at 10:15 ET.  No starter announced as of yet.

Dayton got pummeled by the Whitecaps, losing 5-0 on a 3-hit shutout.  The Dragons struck out a total of 13 times, with Alex Blandino leading the team with 3 strikeouts on a 1-4 night.  Jackson Stephens gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks, with 3 strikeouts.  Up Next: Nick Howard (1-1, 5.30 ERA) will make his 3rd start of the season tonight in Comstock.

Billings' game got washed out on Thursday night.  They'll play a doubleheader tonight starting at 6:05 ET.

The AZLiens won a rain-shortened 4-inning contest 2-0 over the baby Dodgers.  You can read the box score if you like, but it's not really worth 'capping a 4 inning game.  Up Next: Reds v. Rangers tonight at 10 ET.
