Alfredo Simon v. John Lackey

COMPLETE COVERAGE >

The Reds are 10-20 since the All-Star break. Those kind of performances aren't going to win the division, or a wild card spot, or finish above .500 at this rate. They need a response, and they need it yesterday.

Unfortunately, the Cards aren't going anywhere. The Reds face another shiny new pitcher in John Lackey. Despite this being Lackey's 12th year in the major leagues, he has never faced the Reds. Even with interleague play. He's had 3 starts since being traded from Boston, two of them going well and the other going poorly. The Reds will hope he repeats his 9 ER performance again.

The Reds have Alfredo Simon on the mound, who has yet to have a quality start in August. Simon just needs to keep the Reds in the ballgame, and hope the bullpen doesn't melt down. Again.

Go Reds.
