Louisville lost the presence of Brandon Phillips two days ago, and all they have done since is win. Well, they have won 2 in a row. Maybe they really didn't want to take a selfie with BP? The media sensation would have been too much to handle, probably, or they're a bunch of butt mops and don't want to see us happy. Louisville beat Indianapolis 7-2, after a 5 run 11th inning. Jonathon Moscot, who is only one man and would like to thank God, was promoted to AAA and made his debut last night. He did what Jon Moscot usually does (5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K). He did give up 2 home runs, but who cares? Jason Bourgeois had 2 singles and 2 RBI. Donald "Duckin'" Lutz went 2 for 5 with a double, triple 4 RBI, and a run scored. Neftali Soto did not record an at bat, but he walked twice and scored a run. Josh "Boring Name" Smith pitches tonight.
Pensacola had a nifty 5-2 lead, until the bullpen pissed it away in the bottom of the 8th. They inevitably lost 6-5 to Jacksonville. Timothy Adelman got the start and pitched 5 scoreless, giving up 4 hits, and striking out 3. Ben Klimesh blew the save giving up 4 runs on 3 hits, walking 2, and striking out 2. He is being fast tracked to Cincinnati's bullpen. Yorman Rodriguez became your best friend and banged your girlfriend, going 4 for 5, scoring 3 runs, and hitting a 2 run wanger. If you listen to Dougy Dirt, he hit the damn ball out of the damn stadium. Devin Lohman and Kyle Waldrop had 2 hit games. Blake Lively starts tonight.
Bakersfield beat Lancaster with a walk off win in the 9th 5-4. This was their third walk off in four nights. Drew Cisco got the start and delivered what I would consider a very Drew Cisco kind of start (5 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HR). Jimmy "Found His Brain" Moran pitched 3 scoreless with 2 strikeouts, and Layne Somsen picked up the save with a K in 1 inning. Bakersfield did their best small ball to win the walk off. Sammy Diaz hit a double, a sacrafice bunt (and an error ensued) pushing Diaz to third, and then Brent Peterson hit a sacrifice fly to right field. Marquez Smith hit a single, scored, a run, and walked twice in 2 at bats. Sammy Diaz was 3 for 4, with said double, and a RBI. TBD pitches tonight.
Dayton also had a bullpen meltdown, losing to South Bend 11-6. Actually, they had a starting pitcher meltdown as well. Amir Garrett started second guessing leaving his first love (basketball) for the glories of baseball. He made it a whole 2 innings, giving up 5 hits, 6 ER, 5 BB, and 3 K. Blarg. Joel Bender was fine in relief (5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, and 9 K). Pedro Diaz impoded in the bottom of the 8th. Dayton did put up a 5 spot in the 2nd. The best hitter was Phillip Ervin, who went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Tanner Rahier was 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI. Jonathan Reynoso hit a double, RBI, and walked, and Alexander "The Great" Blandino hit a RBI triple. Sweet Smellin' Sal Romano pitches tonight.
Billings got dirt stomped by some team called Orem by a score of 13-5. Santa Krauss, Fabian Roman, Mike Saunders, and Jacob "Doody" Moddy combined to give up the 10 of the ER out of 13 total runs. I'll give Scott Brattvet and Jordan Rerner a shoutout for finishing the last 2 innings without giving up a run. Argenis "Da Mask" Aldazoro hit a 3 run tater in the 7th, he also had a single in 5 at bats. Cory Thompson had 2 hits in 3 at bats, and well no one else really did anything to talk about. Billings doesn't play until Wednesday, and that is just fine by me.
The AZL Reds played two yesterday. The first game was picking back up for the suspended game the day before. The Reds lost 7-6. Surprise! Every pitcher that pitched an inning or more gave up runs. Jose Siri was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. Narciso "He Notta" Crook was 2 for 4. Paul Kronenfeld was 3 for 4 with a double and a RBI. Reydel Medina was 2 for 4 with a double.
Game 2 saw the Reds lose againt 4-3 in 14 innings. Surprise! Israel Cuevas, Michael Sullivan, and Jake Paulson all combined for 7 innings of scoreless relief. Luis Gonzalez had 3 singles, Shane Mardirosian was 2 for 3 with a double, and Hector Vargas was 2 for 6. Reydel Medina had double and 2 RBI. The AZL Reds have tonight off.
