Dylan Axelrod v. Jordan Lyles

COMPLETE COVERAGE >

They needed last night, but that's just about every game from here on out. Tonight we get our first look at the newest Red, right-hander Dylan Axelrod. You may have heard his name before, as he's spent the last 3 seasons pitching for the White Sox. He started 20 games last year, before spending the entire 2014 in AAA until now.

The change of scenery was already doing Axelrod good, as he was named the International League's Pitcher of the Week last week. He's made 5 starts for Louisville since being acquired, and had a 2.06 ERA there before being called up. It's easy to see why the Reds made this decision, with Axelrod being the hot hand right now in AAA and already having some big league experience.

After a couple of shaky seasons in Houston, Jordan Lyles looks to be resurging a bit in Coors Field, of all places. He's sitting pretty at a 3.70 ERA right now in 14 starts, after spending the last 3 seasons getting knocked around as an Astro.

Go Reds!
