After last night's gut punch, it's hard to think that this team won't be going through the motions from here on out. They're banged up on just about every front, and they know that and it's getting to them. You can tell watching Todd Frazier and Jay Bruce that they're pressing out there. That they aren't themselves and they don't have that confidence right now to think they have any chance of competing in games.
They soldier on, this time with Mike Leake taking his turn on the no run support merry-go-round. He's given up 4 runs in each of his last 3 starts, and the Reds haven't scored more than 3 in 10 games, so the odds do not seem to be in our favor there. Luckily, Trevor Cahill starts for the D-backs, who has spent most of the year in the bullpen and hasn't been good since coming to the rotation.
Move of the day is Jay Bruce to the bereavement list, with Curtis Partch recalled to provide bullpen help. Partch threw 31 pitches last night, which makes me wonder if they should have brought someone up who can actually provide bullpen help today.
Go Reds!
