Farmers Only Weekend Harvest: Bow To Aquino

Seriously, he might smite you if you refuse.

Scott Heavey
Louisville

Louisville played the Toledo Mud Hens this weekend, and they didn't get to take any celebratory selfies because they lost every single game.  Friday, the Bats lost 6-0.  David "Holmboy" Holmberg had a 6.1 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, and 4 K kind of night.  The bats only had 3 hits, so forget the offense.  Saturday, the Bats didn't fare much better, but did score a run when they lost 5-1.  Mikey O'Brien! got the start pitching 6 IP, 4 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, and 3 HR.  Derp.  Villarreal had a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.  Juan Silverio HiHo'd a solo dinger in the 7th.  Sunday, the Bats decided to be a little competitive, but still lost 4-2.  Scott Diamond made his Louisville debut and did his best Wang impression (6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HR).  Jason Bourgeois, Donnie Murphy (Who?), and Steve So Selsky had two hit games.  David Axelrod will get the start on Monday.  Click the link to see his pretty picture.

Pensacola

Friday, the Wahoos beat the Jacksonville Suns 8-3, benefited by a 7 run 5th inning.  Robert Stephenson got the start and had a weird outing for his standards (5.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HR).  Juan Duran had the big blast of the game, a 3 run moonshot in the 5th.  Ryan Wright had 3 singles, Yorman had 2 with a RBI, Kyle Waldrop had 2, and Rossmel Perez had 2 doubles.  Saturday, Pensacola found themselves on the frowny side of the scoreboard 6-2.  They had a 2-0 lead until giving up 3 runs in the the 7th and 8th innings.  Timmy Adleman got the start and went 6 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K.  Jamie Walczak came in for relief, and gave up 4 ER, 3 BB, 0 K, and 1 HR.  Yeesh.  Ryan Wright went 2 for 3 with a walk and a RBI.  Sunday, Jacksonville got the best of the Wahoos again, beating them 5-2.  Michael Lorenzen did something he hasn't done much of this year, and that was give up hits and the long ball (4.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 2 HR).  Drew Hayes pitched 2.1 scoreless innings.  Yorman Rodriguez went 3 for 4 with a double and a walk.  Rossmel "Shmossmel" Perez also went 3 for 4 with a walk.  Ben Lively gets the start tonight.

Bakersfield

Friday night was not a good night for the Bakersfield Blaze and pitcher Mike Dennhardt.  Dennhard went 4.2 IP, 10 H, 8 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 2 HR.  Woof.  Stick with 'em big guy.  Ryan Kemp and El'Hajji both pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief (well Kemp pitched 2.1).  The scoring was done essentially by Marquez Smith and Sebastian "Janiwowski" Elizalde both hit wangers and had 3 RBI.  David Vidal was 2 for 4 with a double.  Saturday ended much better for the Blaze with a 10-7 win.  Daniel Wright got the start and struck out a lot of guys, but also got Cal League'd (5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 10 K, 2 HR).  Jeff "PB&Jam" Gelalich was 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and grand funky chicken slam in the 3rd.  He finished the day with just those 4 RBI, though.  Sammy Diaz had 3 hits, and Sean "Daddy's Boy" Buckley and Marquez Smith had 2 hits on the day.  Sunday saw the Blaze go on a two game winning streak with a 7-5 victory over Rancho Cucamonga.  Ismael Guillon got the start and had a rough first inning, but settled down after that.  He wasn't the usual hot garbage he's been since his promotion to A+ (6 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 HR).  Kyle McMyne and Ben Klimesh had scoreless innings.  Juan Perez (3 run) and Sebastian Elizalde (solo) both hit big fly rally killers.  Jeff Gelalich was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks.  Juan Perez also had 2 walks to go with his home run and a single on a 2 for 2 night.  Brent Peterson, Marquez Smith, and Sebastian had 2 hits in the game.  Drew Cisco starts tonight.

Dayton Dragons

On Friday, the Dragons finished up their series against the Beloit Snappers (heh heh) beat the Snappers (heh heh) 6-5.  Dang Langfield had a really dang kind of night (4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 6 K, 2 HR).  Stop walking people.  Tony Amezcua, Nick Howard (1 K), and Alejandro Chacin (3 K) all pitched scoreless innings.  The Dragons would score 5 runs in the 8th inning.  Phil Ervin was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks.  Robert Ramirez was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, and Ronald "Muy" Bueno was 2 for 5.  Gabriel Rosa had a triple and 3 RBI.  Saturday, the Dragons traveled out to Wisconsin and beat the Timber Rattlers 9-3.  Naughty Nick Travieso got the start and went 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, and 4 K.  His only earned run came on a solo shot, but quit walking people!  Robert Ramirez went 1 for 3 with 2 run johnson, 2 walks, and 3 runs scored. Jamrod McGruder was 3 for 5.  Phil Ervin was 2 for 4 with triple, RBI, and a walk.  Joe Hudson went 3 for 4 with with a triple of his own (unhook the plow!) and 2 RBI and a walk. Sunday, the Dragons were shut out 3-0.  Jackson Stephens turned in a decent start (6 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, and a HR).  Joel Bender threw 2 scoreless innings with a K.  Phil Ervin went 2 for 4 finish up fantabulous weekend.  The Dragons will put Amir Garrett on the mound tonight.

Billings Mustangs

Guys, hold on to your butts.  This weekend the Mustangs basically said, "Fuck pitching.  We're going hit the ball really hard".  Friday, Billings beat Idaho Falls 10-9, and inexplicably didn't hit any home runs.  Aristides "Something about Horseshit" Aquino went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI.  Brian "Beef" O'Grady went 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 RBI, and 2 walks.  Holy crap.  Alex Blandino had 2 hits, a double, 1 RBI, and a walk.  Argenis "The Mask" Aldazoro had 2 hits and 2 runs scored.  Wyatt "Earp" Strahan went 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, and 2 K.  Brennan "Not Roger" Bernardino pitched 2 innings with 4 K.  Here is where things start to get really wild, especially for Aquino.  Billings would lose to Ogden on Saturday 11-10.  They scored 6 unanswered runs in the 8th and 9th.  Alex "The Great" Blandino, Brian O'Grady, and Taylor Sparks all hit wangers, and did some other cool things in the game.  Aristides "The One True God of Baseball" Aquino hit two wangers for 3 RBI.  That gave him 7 on the year.  That was a total of 5 for the 'Stangs on Saturday.

Sunday was off the chain, and deserves it's own dang paragraph, with a 19-11 victory for the Mustangs. Let's not even really get into the pitching, because pitching is stoopy dumb (Cliff Notes: Kivel was bad, relievers walked a lot of people, 13 in total).  Seriously, get down on your worthless knees and pray to Aristides Aquino.  He went 4 for 5 with 4 runs scored, 2 peasant sacrifices, and 7 RBI.  He threw a walk on there for good measure.  We're not worthy.  WE'RE NOT WORTHY!  That's 9 HR on the year, and 4 for the weekend.  Brian "O'Baby" O'Grady also had another really good day.  He went 2 for 3, 3 runs scored, 2 doubles, and 3 walks.  Ty Washington had 4 hits, 2 RBI, and a double. Alex Greer had 3 hits, including a double and a triple.  WHAT.THE.HELL.  Billings decided not to even put a pitcher on the mound for Monday.  Aquino is just going to stare angrily at opposing dugout.

Arizona League Reds

The Arizona Reds had a double header on Friday.  Game 1 saw the Reds fall 9-1 to the Rangers.  Jacob Constane got the start and went 3 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, and 3 K.  Jarrett Freeland had 2 singles and a RBI.  In Game 2, the Reds won 11-7.  Bernardo Moreta pitched 3 innings out of the pen, giving up 0 ER, 1 BB, and 3 K.  Brian Pearl also pitched an inning and recorded a strikeout.  there were no dingers hit by the Reds, but Hector Vargas (3), Narciso "I'm not a" Crook (2), Paul Kronenfield (2), Jose "Ask" Siri (3), Reydel "Rotel" Medina (2) all had multi hit games.  Saturday, the Reds would lose to the Padres 1-2.  Jacob Constante would give up 3 ER in 4.1 innings, including a 2 run home run to Yonder Alonso.  Israel "Oscuro" Cuevas pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, and Jacob Ehret pitched 2 scoreless.  Reydel Medina hit a solo shot, and Gavin LaValley went 2 for 4 with a double.  The Reds play the Angels tonight.
