Farmers Only: Lorenzen And Langfield Get Jiggy

With it.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Louisville got the short end of the stick losing 6-3 to Columbus, but the game was banged early because of rain.  It was still an official game.  Brett Marshall continues to prove he doesn't know what the hell is going on (4 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO, 1 HR).  Elvin "Speaks like Elves" Ramirez pitched 2 scoreless innings with a strikeout.  Tucker Barnhart had 2 hits and a RBI.  No one else had more than 1 hit.  Wang will pull for a victory tonight at 7:05 pm.

Pensacola dropped another game to Jacksonville 4-3, but they got another great start from Michael "Licorice Whip" Lorenzen (6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, and 5 SO).  His strikeouts seem to be going up recently, and some of the scouting reports I have read are looking mighty good. This kid is shooting up the prospect rankings.  It just sucks that his inning cap is at 120 IP.  We'll start to miss looking at his stat line, or at least I will.  Drew Hayes and Shane "Blow" Dyer had scoreless innings from the pen.  Jesse Winker got off the homer schnide with a single WinkerBomb©.  Rossmel Perez had a 2 RBI double, Seth Mejias-Brean had a single and a walk, and Yorman had a walk and no strikeouts.  Robert Stephenson will take the mound tonight and look to turn it around.

Bakersfield won a wild one last night by a score of 12-11.  The game started out hot for the Blaze with six unanswered runs in the first two innings.  I do know that in the first inning, with two outs, Jeff Gelalich and Sean Buckley hit singles with two out, and then Sebastian Elizalde stepped to the plate.  The Cyborg launched one deep into the night to make it 3-0.  Wandy Peralta got the start and imploded in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings (4.2 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR).  Mike Dennhardt would enter the game and give up 3 more earned runs in 2 innings.  Kyle McMyne would pick up the win (2 K), and Ben Klimesh would get the save (3 K) with scoreless appearances.  When the game was finally over we had some big offensive stories to announce.  Sebastian Elizalde also had a walk to go with his home run.  Sammy Diaz was 2 for 5 with 4 RBI, including his own 3 run rally monkey in the 2nd.  Jeff Gelalich had 3 hits in the game, Juan Perez had 3 hits, including a double, triple, and 2 RBI, and John Tolisano had 2 doubles, a RBI, and a walk.  A Cal League special, every one. Michelangelo O'Brien will pitch tonight.

Dayton was all RAHR RAHR, with a 7-0 shutout of the Ft. Wayne TinCaps.  Dan "Banga" Langfield was turning some heads last night.  He made his first start of the year and went 4.2 innings, giving up 4 hits, no runs, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts.  His K/9 this year is hovering around 13.  It's good to see him pitching so well.  Radhames "Cheesy" Quezada picked up the win with 2.1 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts, and Nolan "Ryan" Becker pitched 2 scoreless innings.  Jamodrick McGruder lead off the game and had 2 hits, 3 runs, 1 double, and a walk.  Phil Ervin had a RBI double and a run scored.  Tanner Rahier had 2 singles with 3 RBI and a run scored.  Jonathan Reynoso did not walk.  Krampus will take the mound tonight at 7:00 pm.

Billings put up a valiant comeback effort in the 9th, but lost to Missoula 6-4.  Wyatt "Derp" Strahan got the start, and the loss, by getting BABIP'd to death (3.0 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K).  Seth Varner would pitch 3 innings in relief and give up another 2 earned runs.  Jordan Remer and Brian Hunter had scoreless appearances.  Cory Thompson continues to show how shortstops should hit with a solo chuck wagon.  Nick "Pendejo" Bendetto had 2 hits and a RBI, and Shedric "Dong" Long had a double and 2 RBI.  Tyler "Midichlorian" Mahle will pitch tonight.

The Arizona League Reds just can't catch a break, and fell to 2-8 with a loss to the Cubs 6-4.  Brian Pearl (1 BB, 2 K) and Davide "Salami" Anselmi (0 BB, 1 K) pitched scoreless innings.  Gavin "The Mountain and" LaValley had his first wanger of the season, a 2 run shot in the 4th.  He also had a single.  Jason "Doody" Duarte hit a solo blast in the 2nd.  Bryson Smith had 2 singles and a run scored in 3 at bats.

*Side Note*  Juan Silva hasn't been playing lately for Bakersfield and it's giving me a sad.
