We're baaaaack.
Reds baseball is back, with an All-Star break coming at the exact wrong time. The Reds went in on a nice run, and will need to build momentum on the road if they intend to compete in the NL Central for the rest of the season.
They'll start at Yankee Stadium, facing a surprisingly pedestrian Bronx Bombers squad. They've had similar injury problems to Cincinnati, though, with all 5 of their starting rotation being banged up at parts of the season.
They'll bring David Phelps to the table tonight. Phelps has been a long reliever and a spot starter every year he's been with the team, and looks like he's finally going to get an extended look in the rotation this time around. He's had an up-and-down year, but threw quality starts in Minnesota and Cleveland in his last two starts.
Mike Leake goes for the good guys tonight, coming off a rougher than usual start against the Pirates where he gave up 4 runs in 6 innings. Oddly, that's the same line he had the only other time he's faced the Yankees, but that time was at home. He's never pitched in Yankee Stadium.
Go Reds!
Editor's Note: SB Nation's partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $18,000 Fantasy Baseball league for tonight's MLB games. It's $2 to join and first prize is $2,000. Jump in now. Here's the FanDuel link.
