I was not excited to write this because it means it's Sunday night, and tomorrow is Monday morning. BOOOOOOO
Louisville
On Friday, Louisville lost a game to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 7-2. Brett Marshall made his return to the mound and was very ineffective (1.1 IP 0 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 1 K). Josh Smith gave up 5 ER in 3.2 IP. He walked 4 and struck out 4. Neftali Soto was 2 for 3 with a double, and Argenis Diaz had 2 singles. Felix Perez continued his hot year with a solo tallywacker in the 9th.
Saturday, Louisville continued being poopy on Saturday losing to Pawtucket 7-2. Jair Jurrjens gave up 5 ER in 6 innings (6 H, 3 BB, 4 K). Chad Rogers continues his frustrating season giving up 2 earned runs in 2 innings. Neftali Soto had 3 hits, and Agenis Diaz 2 hits, a double, and 2 RBI.
Louisville completed the weekend losing sweep on Sunday, losing to Pawtucket 4-3. Chien-Ming Wang continues to walk the tight rope (6 IP, 11 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, and 4 K). I don't know how he isn't giving up more runs, but more power to him. Carlos Marmlol walked 3 batters in 1 inning, but didn't give up a run. JOEY VOTTO MADE HIS REHAB START. He had a hit and a strikeout in 3 at bats. I EXPECT MOAR WALKS. Felix Perez hit another bomb, and so did Bryan Anderson (his of the two-run variety). Louisville will pitch someone against Pawtucket at 7:05 pm.
Pensacola
On Saturday, there was a double header because the Friday game was rained out. In the first game the Wahoo offense failed again, losing 0-1. Because of the double header, we only have 7 inning games. Jon Moscot was awesome yet again. He went 6 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 earned run, and 4 strikeouts. His lone blemish was a solo homerun 5th. The offense? Uhm. How ‘bout no Scotty.
The offense changed their ways in the second game, winning 4-3 against the Montgomery Bisquits. They scored 3 in the top of the 7th to lake the lead. Bibbity Bobbity Stephenson wasn’t as sharp as usual. He lasted 6 innings, 4 hits, 3 earned runs, and 3 strikeouts. Josh Fellhauer led off the game and was 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI. Brodie Greene decided to play ball. He went 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. Rey Navarro had a 2 RBI double.
The Sunday game was postponed because the ground was wet! They have Mikey O’Brien! listed to start tonight, but who knows who will be on the mound.
Bakersfield
Bakersfield played Rancho Cucamonga this weekend, and lost on Friday 7-3. Mike Denhardt was adequate (5 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K), but the bullpen screwed it up for everyone. Seth Mejias hit another 2 Brean casserole in the 4th. He also had a RBI single for 3 on the day. Kyle Waldrop had 2 hits and a triple.
On Saturday, Bakersfield got the better of the Cucamonga Quakes. Ben Lively still had a good peripheral line (3 BB, 9 K), but still got roughed up. Giving up 7 hits and a homerun don’t help. That ERA is swelling to 2.28 ERA. Ben Klimesh had a scoreless 2.1 innings. Jesse Winker played big boy ball with a 2-run ding dong. Marquez Smith had 2 hits and 2 walks. Seth Mejias-Brean had a hit and 2 walks. Kyle Waldrop had 2 hits. Juan Perez had 2 hits, a triple and 3 RBI.
Sunday, Bakersfield decided to not be cool losing 5-3. Wandy Peralta pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Kyle McMyne had a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. Sir badass, Juan Silva, had 2 walks and 2 steals, giving him 28 steals on the season. Jesse Winker walked 3 times. Kyle Waldrop had 2 more hits, including a solo chimichanga. Beau Amaral had 2 hits and a triple. Bakersfield plays the Quakes tonight with TBD on the mound.
Dayton
Dayton finished their series against Bowling Green in a big way on Friday with an 8-5 win. Nick Travieso was pretty decent (6 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K), and Joel Bender and Alejandro Chacin had scoreless appearances. Phil Ervin is really starting to turn it around. He went 2 for 4, with 2 runs scored, a double and a walk. Daniel Pigott had 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and a walk. Avain Rachal had 3 hits and an RBI, Jon Matthews had 2 hits and a RBI, and Carlton Daal had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Saturday, Dayton faced Lake County and fell with a 4-3 loss. Nick Routt was great striking out 8 in 6 frames with no walks. He gave up 1 run, but it was unearned. Scott Battvet gave up 3 earned runs in the 9th. Sebastian Elizalde and Avain Rachal both had 2 hit games, and Tanner Rahier had a RBI double.
On Sunday, Dayton beat Lake County 2-4. Ismael Guillon is making it look easy (7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, and 9 K). Promote the kid already. Nolan Becker and Layne Somsen had scoreless appearances. Jammy Jam the McGruderman had a triple and 2 walks. Sebastian Elizalde had 2 hits and a RBI. Avain Rachal also had a 2 run double. Sweaty Sal Romano will pitch for Dayton tonight at 7:00 pm EST.
