Farmers Only: Louisville And Waldrop Bring the Boom

USA TODAY Sports

Louisville put up 20 hits on Tuesday night, and beat the Durham Bulls 10-5.  Josh Smith got the start and wasn't very effective.  He went 6 innings, giving up 10 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, and struck out 3.  He also gave up a homerun.  Like I said, the Bats had 20 hits, and Juan Silverio led the team with 5 hits, 2 of them doubles, and 2 runs scored.  Jason Bourgeois had 3 hits in 6 at bats and scored 3 runs.  Rueben Gotay had 2 hits with double and 2 runs scored.  Thomas Neal had 3 hits and 4 RBI.  Felix Perez continued to hit the shit out of the ball with a 2 for 4 night, with 2 doubles, with 1 walk.  Donald Lutzington also joined into the fun with 2 hits and a RBI.  Tim Crabbe pitched the final 3 innings to pick up his first save of the year.  Louisville plays at 11:45 am with Jair Jurrjens on the mound.

In the AA All Star game, the SOU South All Stars walked away with a 6-4 victory.  The pitchers from the Wahoos didn't do too hot.  Michael Lorenzen picked up the win, but gave up 2 hits and a walk in 1 inning pitched.  He did strike out a batter.  Robert Stephenson pitched an inning and gave up 2 hits, 1 earned run, but did strike out batter.  From what I heard on Twitter, Stephenson was throwing up to 98, but it was rumored the gun was a bit hot.  Either way, he was hitting the mid 90's regularly.  It was also stated that he was pretty slow to home plate, which doesn't help with the running game.  Ray Navarro had 2 hits in 5 at bats, Steve Selsky had a hit in 2 at bats, and Yorman Rodriguez did nothing in his only at bat.  The Wahoos have the day off on Wednesday and will resume baseball activities with a game on Thursday.

In the A+ All Star Game, the Cal League All Stars faced off against the Carolina League All Stars.  The Cal League All Stars would win 3-2 because of a 3 run Todd Frazier Special by Kyle Waldrop in the 4th inning.  He had another single for a nifty 2 for 3 night.  Jesse Winker struck out in his only at bat.  Ben Lively started the game and pitched 2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts, and that was pretty much it for the Bakersfield Blaze All Stars.  Again, the Blaze will pick up the baseball again on Thursday.

In the Midwest League All Star Game, the East Division came up with the loss 7-0.  Carlton Daal struck out once in 2 at bats.  Ismael Guillon pitched in the game and was awful.  In two thirds of an inning, he gave up a hit, 2 earned runs, and 3 walks.  No one else played.  Dayton will play Thursday.

Billings got a great pitching performance from Jeremy Kivel and beat Great Falls 2-1.  Evil Kivel pitched 4.1 innings, 5 hits, 1 earned run, zero walks, and 1 strikeout.  Solid Soid Marquez pitched 2.2 innings giving up 1 hit, zero runs, 3 walks, and two strikeouts.  Jefry Sierra "Madre Mountain" got his first save of the year, striking out 2 in 1 inning.  Ty Ty Washington was 3 for 4 with a solo Rocky Mountain Oyster in the 3rd.  Aristides Aquino also had a RBI single.  Billings will play Great Falls tonight.
