Farmers Only: Holmberg Turns It Around

We also have All Star breaks and the Billings season opener.

Norm Hall

Louisville defeated the Durham Bulls on Monday night by the score of 3-1.  David Holmberg told y'all to shut your stoopy mouths, pitching 6 innings of shutout ball.  He gave up 6 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 6 batters.  Me likey.  Jumbo Diaz picked up his 17th save of the year.  Felix Perez continues to defy age, and conventional wisdom, by hitting a two-run rally killer in the 8th.  It is his 10th of the season.  He also had a single for a nice 2 for 4 night.  Josh Smith will start tomorrow night for the Bats against Durham.

Pensacola had the night off, because IT'S THE AA ALLSTAR BREAK BOYYYYYYY!!!  Steve "So Hot and" Selsky, Rey Navarro, Michael "Stretch" Lorenzen, Robert Stephenson, Jonathon Muskox, and for some reason Yorman Rodriguez will represent the Wahoos.  The game will be Tuesday night.

Bakersfield is off as well, because it is also their All Star Break.  Ben Lively will be starting for Cal League All Stars.  He'll probably strikeout every batter he faces.  Jesse Winker and Kyle Waldrop will also be on the team.  I'd like to think there would be more.  Where is Juan Silva?  Was Mejias-Brean given the nod before his promotion?  The Blaze just seem to be too good to only have 3 players.  What about Ryan Wright?  He's been ok.  He's no Juan Silva, but he's been ok.  The game will be Tuesday night.  Edit: JESSE WINKER WON THE HOME RUN DERBY!  WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Dayton is on break for the all-star game, as well.  Carlton Daal, Ismael Guillon, Sweaty Sal Romano, and Nick "Krampus" Travieso will be on the team.  Again, I'm sure promotions play a big part with selections.  I'm assuming organizations tell the coaches if a player will be called up, so they don't get to participate in the All Star game.  It is a shame because Sebastian Elizalde was totes the best player in the league.  The game will be Tuesday night.

Billings opened up their season with a 7-4 loss to the Great Falls Voyagers on Monday Night.  Aristides "God of Baseball" Aquino welcomed back baseball to Big Sky country with a might crack of his Bat of the Ages.  He hit the mighty 2 run shot in the 6th.  He had two more hits, including a double.  Nick Benedetto had the only other multi-hit game.  Tyler Mahle started the game and went 5.0 IP, giving up 3 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 4 SO, and 1 HR.  Fabian Roman was tagged with the loss, giving up 3 runs, but none of them was earned.  He struck out 3 in 1.2 innings.  Billings will play again tomorrow night against Great Falls.  I don't know who is pitching.
