Louisville was rocked Tuesday night losing to the Tides 9-4. Aroldis Chapman got the start, as he prepares to rejoin the Reds, and got beat around. He went 0.2 innings, giving up 4 hits, 5 earned runs, a walk, and he had one strikeout. I'm not worried about it. He's just getting work in, and if he gives up some runs that's ok. I guess. Josh Smith entered the game with 2 outs in the first and didn't fare much better. He went 5.2 innings giving up 3 earned runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Lee Hyde and Adam Russell both had scoreless appearances. Hyde struck out 3 in 1.2 innings. Ruben Gotay went 2 for 4 with a double and a RBI. Felix Perez also hit a double and walked. Tim Crabbe will get the start for the morning game at 11:35 am. Nothing sounds better than some cold beers for an 11:35 am start. I'm not being sarcastic. I'm super jelly of the people that get to go to that game.
Pensacola couldn't rally from an early deficit losing 7-3 to the Chattanooga Lookouts. Robert Stephenson had a good line (5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, and 9 SO). The strikeout and walk ratio was fantastic. Bob Steve would have gotten out of the first, but Devin Lohman committed a fielding error. Mr. Stephenson would then walk a batter, throw a wild pitch, give up a double, and then a single. The inning would end on an outfield assist by Brodie Greene, but they were down 3-0 early. Stephenson would settle down after that. Tim Aldeman would then give up 4 earned runs in 1.2 innings. Drew Hayes struck out the side in the ninth. The Wahoo offense just didn't have enough to overcome the big hole their defense and pitching put them in. Juan Silverio was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Rossmel Perez was 3 for 4 with a run scored, and Devin Lohman went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Jon Moscot will try to continue his fabulous start to the season at 6:35 pm CST.
Bakersfield was awesome again because they won. Did you know they are 25-8? Woah. That's really good. I know I was just taking their victories for granted, but that is better than I thought they were. I usually just assume they will never lose. The Blaze won 11-6. One reason they aren't losing is because Ryan Wright is playing like a freaking stud. I'd stay away from Wick because what's going on in his pants isn't an optical illusion. It isn't the pleats, people. Wright went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. The 24 year old from Louisville is hitting .321. He isn't walking much, but he is hitting. Juan Silva went 2 for 4 with a triple and a run scored. Seth Mejias-BRINGIT was 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored and a walk. David Vidal made his way back to Bakersfield to learn to catch. He had a great night with the bat. He went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles, a walk, and 5 RBI. The bad thing is he had 3 passed balls behind the dish. Woopsie. The pitching wasn't good, so I'll just talk about the starting pitcher. Mike Dennhardt only lasted 0.2 innings with a line of (4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, and 2 K). I hope he isn't hurt because that line doesn't completely warrant being pulled in the first inning. He was having a decent start to the season up until his last two starts. TBD will be on the mound tonight at 7:15 pm PST.
Dayton continues to get phenomenal pitching beating the Loons 1-0. It would be nice to get some more runz, but the other team can't win if you don't let them score. Daniel Wright had all the Wright stuff working going 5.1 innings with 5 hits given up, 0 runs, and 6 strikeouts. His ERA is at a fancy (say it like FAWN-see) 1.67. Joel Bender would come in for an inning and strike out 2. Ryan Kemp would also strikeout 2, but in 1.2 innings. Alejandro Chacin would pick up his 3rd save in the ninth. Golf clap fellas... golf clap. I tip my cap to you good Sirs. You done did good. The offense was a bunch of poop sammies. With a 1-0 win, I was hoping to see Ervin hit his first home run of the season, but, alas, he did not. He went 0 for 4 instead. Sad trombone. The only run would come from a 2 out RBI single from Carlton Daal in the second inning. Good for you Carlton. Slippery Sal Ramano will take the mound at 10:35 am. Gee willikers! They're gonna have to give the players coffee instead of Gatorade!
