Louisville decided to play big boy baseball beating the Norfolk Tide by a score of 10-5. Jeff Francis was fancy Jeff Francis pitching 7 frames, giving up 4 runs, 3 earned, with a walk and 6 strikeouts. It's a good thing he is pitching so well because the Reds may really need him. Jumbo Diaz gave up his first run of the season in the ninth. The big story was the Bats bringing the boom sticks to Louisville Slugger Field. Ruben Gotay went 2 for 5 with a home run (I wish it was a grand slam) and 5 RBI. Mike Wilson also hit a NERTS. El Corky went 2 for 4 with a double, and Jason Bourgeois had two walks and a single. Louisville will play the Tide again tonight. It says TBD on the mound, but I think it is the Chappynator on the mound.
Pensacola did everything in their power to keep from winning on Monday night, but ended up beating the Lookouts 10-9. Daniel Corcino is a real booger eater. He went 6 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 earned runs, 4 walks, and 2 strikeouts. His control is really starting to bother me. Elvin Ramirez gave up 4 runs in 1/3 an inning. Fortunately, the offense. HiHo Silverio went 3 for 4 with a double, a lone ranger, a walk, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI. WOOOOOOOOOO. Beau Amaral went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Rossmel Perez had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Robert Stephenson will pitch tonight, and I'm not giving him any fancy names until he pitches better.
Bakersfield completed the minor league sweep last night, late late last night because they are stupid west coasters, by beating the Evil Inland Empire 6-5. Drew Cisco started the game and was ho-hum. He went 5.2 innings giving up 7 hits, 5 runs, 3 earned, with a walk and 3 strikeouts. He isn't fooling anyone, but the defense also let him down. I really want him to succeed, but early results in Bakersfield aren't looking great. Layne Somsen picked up the win when he faced SEVEN batters and striking FIVE out. Juan Silva is the man. He went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and an RBI. Zach Vincej also doubled in the game. Kyle Waldrop dropped a ball over the fence and hit a sacrifice fly on the night. Seth Mejias-Brean was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts because you gotta let the other guys feel good sometimes. Mike Dennhardt will break some hearts at 7:10 PST.
Dayton shutout the Great Lake Loons tonight 2-0 as child stealing, Santa demon, Naughty Nick Travieso continues to slice up Single A. He is making a big case for a promotion to Bakersfield. He pitched 5 scoreless innings, scattering 3 hits, he did not give any gifts, and he stole 5 children. RoDANey Langfield, who was an honorable mention in the RR Community Prospect Rankings, pitched for the first time since 2012. He entered in relief for Travieso and pitched 2 innings with 4 strikeouts. The rest of his line was zeroes. Nice debut Danny Boy! It would be really good to see this kid healthy and excelling on the mound. Tanner Rahier didn't wait to know her, and hit a solo stiffy. Phillipe Ervin legged out a triple on a 1 for 4 night. Daniel Wright will take the mound tonight at 7:05 PM EST.
