Skip Schumaker, on his first rehab assignment, went 3-4 with a pair of doubles while playing center field. Ruben Gotay and Thomas Neal each reached base thrice, but yeah, this was a game to forget. Bakersfield moved into first place with a 6-2 win over Stockton. Marquez Smith assaulted the Ports pitchers, honking a pair of wangdazzlers to go along with 2 walks and 4 RBI. Kyle Waldop also went yard, his second of the year. Wandy Peralta had the LOB gods on his side, allowing just a single run on 7 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings. He struck out 5. Dayton doubled up the Lugnuts, 8-4, for their fifth straight win to move into first place as well. Ismael Guillon was effectively-ish wild, allowing 3R/2ER on just 2 hits in 5 innings, walking 4 and striking out 6. All 4 walks came in the second inning, and a Jamodrick McGruder error didn't help matters. "Welcome to Jamodrick" did steal a base and score, so that's kinda jam, but it was Jeff "Peanut Butter" Gelalich time with a baseball bat, as the former UCLA outfielder went 3-5 with 2 RBI and a run. 22-year-old Sebastian Elizalde, previously of the Mexican League, continued to kill the ball, going 2-3 with a bases-clearing double, a walk, and his 9th SB of the year.
