Jeff Samardzija vs. Alfredo Simon

It's always nice to look up from a losing streak and see the Cubs on the schedule.  Since the start of the 2010 season, the Reds hold a .708 winning percentage in 72 games against the lovable losers.  A sweep of this series, would put the Reds right at .500 for the month of April, and with the difficult schedule and rash of injuries, that was right about where we all hoped they'd be.

If this game gets played tonight, and with the weather forecast that's looking rather iffy, the Cubs will trot out their ace, Jeff Samardzija.  Warroyo has been lights out in his first 5 starts, tossing 35.1 innings of 1.53 ERA so far this season.  Following Samardzija, will be the struggling Edwin Jackson in game 2 and Carlos Villanueva in game 3.

The elephant in the ballpark is that the Reds will send Alfredo Simon to the mound for his first start since the allegations of sexual assault were made public.  I really don't have anything to add that FordhamRam didn't say in his post from last week.  The whole situation is just an extremely ugly and unfortunate mess.
