Farmers Only: Get Well Soon, Uncle Jesse

and you too, Carlos Contreras

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Louisville lost 5-2 to Syracuse.  Jeff Francis got lit up for 11 hits in 6.2 innings, but managed to hold the Chiefs to 4 runs (3 earned) with 2 strikeouts and a walk.  Tucker Barnhart was one of the only Bats to have a performance worth writing about, going 3-4 with a double.  Up Next: Josh Smith (3-0, 2.18 ERA) takes the hill for the Bats on #FearTheStache night.

Pensacola lost a barnburner against the Jr. Braves, falling 11-9 to Mississippi.  Carlos Contreras got the start, but was removed in the second inning after injuring himself covering first base.  Donald Lutz continues to pound on the door to Louisville.  The big guy went 3-5 with 2 doubles and his 5th knockwurst of the year.  Yorman Rodriguez had a nice night as well, going 2-4 with a triple and a walk.  Up Next: Daniel Corcino (1-2, 4.35 ERA) faces off against the Barves at 7:30 ET.

Bakersfield squeaked a 3-2 victory out over the Modesto Nuts.  The big story in this one, however, is that Jesse Winker came out of the game after crashing into the outfield wall.  He was taken to the hospital with concussion symptoms, and no updates have been made yet.  James Allen got the start, and threw 6 innings of 2-run ball with 2 strikeouts and no walks.  The Blaze were the beneficiaries of 4 Modesto errors, as only one of their runs were earned.  Up Next: Drew Cisco (1-1, 6.10 ERA) gets the start against San Jose at 10 PM ET.

Dayton edged out South Bend, winning a 3-1 contest against the Silver Hawks.  Amir Garrett allowed only 1 run on two hits through 5 innings with 2 strikeouts, but had to pitch around 4 walks.  Uncle Phil Ervin continues to struggle at the plate, going 0-4, but he drove in a run on a sacrifice.  Beau Amaral went 2-4 with a triple out of the leadoff spot.  Up Next:  Nick Travieso (2-0, 1.59) looks to get naughty against the Loons at 6:05 PM ET.
