The Winter Meetings are upon us
Mike Leake talks about potentially getting traded over at MLBTR. Other relevant news to us: potential target Brandon Moss is on the verge of joining the Indians, and potential target Matt Kemp is most likely to end up in San Diego.
The Reds are apparently still looking for a LF
As you'd expect. Or, more accurately, as you'd expect Walt to tell the media. Who the hell knows.
The Reds signed Irving Falu, Jose de la Torre, Wilmer Font, Jose Flores, and Marcus Walden to minor league deals. Doug has a breakdown, but none of these guys look like they'll contribute in 2015. At least, let's hope none of these guys will be expected to contribute. That'd mean a rough season ahead.
Baseball to return to the 2020 Olympics?
Mister-baseball has the news that the IOC has opened the door for baseball and softball to make their return to the Olympics. Baseball's kind of doing fine without it with the WBC and all, but it'd be huge for softball to return to the Olympics. I remember those games being a huge deal when I was growing up, and it's kind of a bummer that those talented players had the most important tournament taken away from them when they were taken out of the Olympics. Fingers crossed.
