or: what to read when you're reading MLB Trade Rumors with Zack Cozart about left fielders on the market...
The Reds' A+ Daytona team has a nickname! Say hello to the Daytona Tortugas, which will host Philip Ervin, Alex Blandino, Nick Travieso and may more in 2015. It's a pretty cool name, and it's convenient that turtles are basically half-dragon, half-fish. The logos are pretty cool. And one can vote for the mascot's name from: Ollie, Scooter, Sheldon, Tito, and Torque. I kinda want Sheldon, since that's such a great old turtle name.
Brandon Moss is on the table. The A's are thinking of getting rid of the lumbering fella, who's been good for a.254/.340/.504 line over the past three years. It's intriguing, even though he's a lefty. Also, Moss was part of the Jason Bay/Manny Ramirez trade, coming back to Pittsburgh. He also played in a week's worth of games for the Phillies. Heh.
I wrote about how shitty it is to be a very good, but not great, soccer player on The Classical, if you're interested.
And more self-promotion: my daytime job is with a new journalism crew that's looking to bring historical context to current-day events. It's called Timeline, and we're going live next week. If that sort of thing sounds interesting to you, sign up for the beta and you'll be able to download the app. I'd be curious to know what you think, since I literally would not have gotten the job was it not for Red Reporter.
That's all! Happy Redfestation!
