I feel pretty comfortable scoreboard-watching this series, as the Reds would be greatly served by a Pirates stumble that I seem to be the only guy in the universe still waiting for. They'll be in Colorado this weekend.
The Reds still have to get things done at home, and taking less than two from the Padres would be very not-good. Rumor has it that Hanigan will be back, and Broxton is also fresh.
Cashner is looking "former prospect" status right in the eyes unless he can string together six healthy, solid, starts or so. He had a decent one against the Yanks last time out, but c'mon, those were the Yankees. Arroyo was totally gross! last start, but he should be back and ready today.
Fun side bet for you: Right now Arroyo is at 141.2 IP, Leake has 140.2, Latos has 146, and Bailey has 149.2 IP. Latos and Bailey have an additional start on the other two. Which Reds starter will end the year with the most innings pitched?
Bullpen log below. Off-days help, and Broxton hasn't pitched since a rehab appearance way back when. Everyone is pretty fresh from the off-days as well. Go Reds!
