Farmers Only: A Whole Lot of Losing Going On

But not the Wahoos. High five!

Christian Petersen

Louisville got clipped by Columbus, managing only 5 hits in a 9-3 loss.  Everything was going swimmingly for Chad Rogers through the first 4 innings before he blew up, allowing 4 in the 5th.  His final line on the night was 5.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 7 K, 1 BB.  Billy Hamilton was responsible for 2 of the 5 Bats hits, going 2-3 with a double, a walk and his 68th stolen base.  Ducky Ludwick went 1-3 with an RBI single in the 3rd.  Up Next:  Greg Reynolds (11-2, 2.41 ERA) takes on the Clippers in Columbus at 7:15.

Pensacola edged out Jacksonville, winning 6-4.  Despite the score, this was a rather boring affair, with all 6 of the Wahoos' runs coming in the bottom of the second, and Jacksonville plating all 4 of their runs in the top of the third.  Mike "Future HoF" Costanzo, who went 2-3 with double and a walk, drove in 3 runs for the 'Hoos.  Daniel Renken struck out 4 in 7 innings with no walks, giving up 4 earned runs.  Up Next: Pensacola continues their series against the Suns at 8.  Tim Crabbe (5-8, 3.43 ERA) gets the start.

Bakersfield lost a barn burner in Stockton, falling 13-10 to the Ports.  Obviously, there was a lot to like about the offense from the Blaze, with Juan Duran (1-3) and Kyle Waldrop (2-4, 2B) each had a wanger, Juan "High Ho" Silverio went 2-4 with a triple, and Ryan Wright went 2-4 with a double.  Unfortunately, the pitching.  James Allen got the start, and was unable to make it out of the 4th inning, allowing 9 runs (7 earned) on 6 hits, 2 dingers, and 4 walks, while striking out 4.  Up Next:  Shane Dyer (5-4, 3.68 ERA) toes the rubber, as the Blaze head to San Jose to face the Giants.

Dayton lost a heartbreaker 3-2 at home against Lake County.  The Dragons had a 2-0 lead heading into the 8th inning where Jesus "Doesn't Save" Adames gave up a 3-spot.  Ismael Guillon struck out 4 and held the Captains to just 1 hit in 5 scoreless innings, but he was in and out of trouble thanks to 5 walks.  Jesse Winker ripped 2 doubles on a 2-3 night with a walk, while the Seth Matthews Band got back on track with a 3-4 night with a double of his own.  Up Next:  Nick Travieso (5-3, 5.10 ERA) faces off against the Captains at 7.

Billings lost 5-2 to Great Falls, despite outhitting the Voyagers 10-9.  Ben "Tough Luck" Lively (3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 K, 1 BB) got tagged with the loss, despite giving up just his 3rd earned run in 27 innings pitched.   Avain Rachal drove in both Mustangs runs, going 2-4 with a wango and a walk, and Jonathan Reynoso knocked 3 singles on a 3-5 night.  Up Next:  Pedro Diaz (2-5, 4.81 ERA) takes the hill against the Voyagers at 9.

The AZL Reds beat the Baby Giants 6-3 in 12 innings.  Last season's 10th round pick, Jeremy Kivel, was slicing up eyeballs, he kept the Lil' Giants off the scoreboard, holding them to just 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2.  Logan Uxa had himself a whale of a game, going 4-4 with a double and a walk.  Up Next: OFF DAY!
