Louisville beat Wil Meyers and the Durham Bulls 8-5. The Bats got all the offense they needed in a 6-run 4th inning, capped off by a Neftali Soto grand slam. Billy the Quick went 1-5, but drove in a run and swiped 3 bags to bring his total up to 40 on the year. You can see grainy video of steals 39 and 40 here. Chad "Discount Mufflers" Reineke was less than stellar, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in 5.2 innings, but he got the all important pitcher win anyway. Up Next: OFF DAY!
Pensacola beat up on the Junior Barves, securing a 7-3 victory in Mississippi. Josh "Meat is Murder" Smith got the start and spun 6 innings of 6-hit ball, allowing 3 runs (1 unearned), striking out 3 and walking 1. Tucker Barnhardt went 2-4 with a walk, drove in 2 runs, and hit a double in the 8th, which would end up being the only XBH the Wahoos would hit. Up Next: Another off day.
Bakersfield got tanned by the Visalia Rawhide, falling 9-3. Carlos Contreras struck out 5 and walked 2, giving up 2 runs, but only managed 4 innings pitched. He was followed by his name buddy Carlos Gonzalez, who gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, in 2.1 innings. Not a lot of offense to speak of, but Yorman went 2-5 with a double and a strike out, and Chris Berset went 3-4 with 3 singles. Up Next: The Blaze continue their series against the Rawhide at 10:45 PM ET. Jon "Blogger" Moscot (1-9, 5.15 ERA) will take the hill for Bakersfield.
Dayton got bowled over by Bowling Green, losing 14-5. Holy crappy pitching, Batman. Ismael "Afarta" Guillon continued to struggle with his command, throwing 62 pitches in 2 innings, allowing 2 runs, walking 3 and striking out only 1. Wes Mugarian took over, and was torched for 7 runs in just 3 innings. Wandy Perralta was not much better, allowing 5 runs in 4 innings. Good lord. Zach Vincej had the only two extra base hits for the Dragons, going 2-5 with a double and a triple. Up Next: Sal Romano (4-6, 4.73 ERA) revs it up against the Hot Rods at 7 PM ET.
