Tony Cingrani will return to the Reds active roster tonight to face the Cubs. This will be Cingrani's 7th MLB start and his 3rd against the Cubs. That means after tonight, 43% of his starts will have come against the Cubs. Talk about a soft-landing to start your career... Cingrani had his best and worst starts of his career against this very team. On April 23rd he went 7 innings and allowed only 2 runs while striking out 9 (yet was the losing pitcher). Then on May 4th he pitched 6 innings and allowed 4 runs (yet was the winning pitcher).
Matt Garza will face the Reds for the first time since going all tough-guy and calling out Johnny Cueto. Garza has been very mediocre this year and he plays for a terrible team.
Ask and you shall receive! In yesterday's preview thread, BK noted, "With last night's debacle, the bullpen could use 8 innings from Homer tonight." Homer obliged, the bullpen was saved.
