Farmers Only: Uncle Jesse and the Rippers

WTF SBN?

Louisville squeaked one out, beating the Charlotte Knights 8-7. Pedro Villarreal got the start, striking out 6 in 5 innings with a walk, but he fell victim to 2 gopher balls, leading to 5 earned runs. Thanks to solid offensive perfomances from Nevin Ashley (4-4 with a wanger), Kris Negron (2-3 with a double), and Mike Hessman (1-4 with a 2-run Hessman), the Bats managed to stay in it, and win it late. After Jose Arredondo blew the save in the 8th, Kevin Whelan and Yohan Pino teamed up to secure the final 4 outs of the Bats victory. Up Next: Lil' Volquez (1-6, 7.89 ERA) takes the hill as the Bats continue their series in Charlotte at 7:15 ET.

Pensacola won a wild one, edging out the Chattanooga Lookouts 10-9 in 13 innings. In Villarreal-ian fashion, Danny Renken started and gave up 6 runs in 5 innings with 6 strikeouts and a walk. The Second Best Devin in the Organization had a totally bodacious night, going 2-5 with a grand slam and driving half of the team's 10 runs. Lots of other things happened, as 20 different Wahoos made it into the game. Up Next: Josh "Boring Stats" Smith (3-3, 4.28 ERA) faces the Lookouts at 8:00 ET.

Bakersfield had the day off yesterday. They head to lovely Stockton to take on the Ports at 10:05 ET. No starter announced yet.

Dayton beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 6-2 to complete the organizational sweep. Johnny Cueto made his second rehab appearance and looked very sharp, allowing 3 hits over 5 innings with 4 Ks and no walks. I'm beginning to think that Jesse Winker is pretty good at baseball, you guys. Uncle Jesse went 2-4 with a double and a solo Stamos. Up Next: Ismael Guillon (1-4, 9.89) looks for calmer seas against the Whitecaps at 7:00 ET.
