RR's favorite German is on his way to the big leagues.
From twitter:
I'm going to the show!!First German in the league !!!!
— Donald Lutz (@braunerhulk) April 28, 2013
The Reds haven't announced a corresponding move, but if we had to guess, it sounds like Chris Heisey's hamstring may in worse shape than we thought. Updates here when they come out.
If you're not familiar with Lutz, he's an outfielder that grew up in Germany, and is now the first German to make the big leagues out of the MLB Europe academy. He's also been kind enough to us to grant us interviews the last two years in Arizona, including a long one with video this year. Go watch it again.
This may not be more than a cup of coffee for Lutzy, but hopefully he can make an impression while he's here. He had a .859 OPS in spring this year, and struggled a bit so far, hitting .211/.294/.513 so far with 5 homers in 76 AB.
See you in Lutzembourg.
